Audio: Drake Calls DJ Drama (8/27/09)

drake-so-far-gone-retail-front1
Retail out 9/15

Talks about his favorite “Forever” verse, his upcoming knee surgery, mentions that he’s currently in LA working with Timbaland & Justin Timberlake, who he wants to work with for Thank Me Later (Hov plus Andre 3000 & Sade,) the So Far Gone retail, and more.

Audio: Drake Calls DJ Drama (8/27/09) [14min]

Special shout to NMC extended fam Miss Info… here’s some quotes courtesy of MTV’s Jayson Rodriguez:

“My favorite line on the song, though, is when Wayne says, ‘Life is such a roller coaster and then it drops/ but what should I scream for, this is my theme park.’ That right there, word-play-wise, that’s my favorite. But everybody does their thing. Kanye does Kanye. Eminem raps in a way where nobody might have heard him rap in a long time and says some things that are great for his fans to hear. I’m just proud to even be on the record. People are telling me they like my verse. I’m just happy I held my own.”

So that record [potentially with Andre 3000 and Sade] is something important to me. Obviously [I’m gonna work with] Wayne. I’m out here really trying to get something special with Justin. Hovito [Jay-Z], we might need to get him. The track on this album was a real catchy joint. But people wanna hear us rap together. That’s one of my goals, to have that track with me and Jay. Maybe don’t even have a hook, maybe. Have just like you haven’t heard him in a minute, just going bars for bars. That might be something you’ll hear on the album.”

    @ Joe88

that track with Ms. Jade is ridiculous.. i was bumping it in the whip 2 days ago… Jay got mad tracks that most ppl never heard of… I got a rare 3rd verse of Don’t You Know(not to be confused with You Don’t Know) off that dream team CD that he goes @ Nasir. My bad in advance cos i’m not tech savvy enough to upload shit..

^Nigga! lol j/k, but I feel you (pause) I copped this cd around the time the black album was dropping called “from marcy to madison square” and the last song is a freestyle over the “don’t you know” beat your talking about and he was going at nas, wait, maybe we’re talking bout the same verse, did he say

You get sent back to the essence for getting fresh with ya father
but really you shoulda got H.O.V.A son cross ya belly
now tell me have I lost already
your whole crew can hate me now I got ya’ll crosses ready

If he did then we’re talking bout the same some

    That whole remix was crazy…

  7. R.J.Orion Says:

i dont know why MJ got bodied… all i know is that all those people Griff named (and others) have far too many similarities in their personal tragedies, that correlates with their ascension to riches, fame, influence, exposure and power … and im not one to ignore clear signs and revealing patterns … nor should anyone else be … but, like ALL the prophets say … only about 5% or roughly 144,000 will know and recognize truth … the rest will mock and disbelieve … yall do the math …

True, but you have to look at the influences in environments that are predominantly lower income (and typically certain demographics) versus others, from the liquor stores to the types of restaurants to the types of mental images forced into people’s heads from an early age. Every time a strong positive leader or influential person among the minorities rises up to create awareness or bring a sense of empowerment through community they seem to get taken out, whether physically or through their character being ruined in the media. I think it’s more to it in some cases than just coincidence or natural order.

^I thought G-Unit clothings getting shut down was good enough, last thing I need to see is a lanky white boy (pause) with a G-Unit wife beater on, 2 tone doo-rag, and a chain with a spinner on it he ordered out the back of a XXL magazine

  41. Joe 88 Says:

I think Hov just took one too many breaks, shit finally caught up with him. He prolly really belived he was retired from rapping at one point, his brain prolly shut down for a week too long and just lost a step.

Only 2 things can happen after a long hiatus, you either get better or get worst, you’ll never be who you was before the break.

  47. Bums Says:

Some of you sound like hip hop conspiracy theorist. it’s pretty lame. and yet i read it because theres a part of me that enjoys the pain of skimming through your unfounded, speculative bullshit to find that thought provoking gem like… “How did he get Em and Wayne on a track.”

Who was responsible for that? Who made that happen and how did it come about? Is Drake, his team and his track record proving strong enough to make things happen. Is it possible, they said, we’re doing a track for the Lebron soundtrack, lebron needs this. Or maybe Em all parties felt the vision of the song and the general lebron project and felt it was something worth contributing to. Either way, we have 20 something young folk making moves at their own accord.

That’s the only undisputed fact few seem to willingly admit.
