Video: The Knux Interview w/ RubyHornet

RH gets 5 Minutes with The Knux.

Footage from Rock The Bells continues to surface, as we present this quick interview the brother tandem known as The Knux. This is the first time we’ve talked to The Knux since the release of their debut album, Remind Me In Three Days. They talk about the reception of that album, their evolution of their live show, getting to start on new material, and more.

Props to RubyHornet

–How if Kanye not on this list

    ——-

Honestly? … i never seen a Kanye West show… prolly never will … i can listen to LR and Graduation all day … but i cannot stand to see dude … he is also very high on the annoying list …

jayz has improved greatly …. never seen Monch live, but i can imagine that would be dope … same for M.O.P.

    (c) B.o.B’s hat story.

Some white dude was pissed that I snatched it from him, but it was under my foot when he grabbed it. I passed it to my lady. LMAO. He was cussin & I looked at him & SMH… he shut up.

We offered Bobby ray his hat back after the show & he was offended… Like”y’all can keep it if y ou want” So I dapped him & we dipped.

Good times at that show. Shouts to Nah Right

  11. Big Homie Says:

Yea Kanye is great live. Word to Glow in the Dark. That is the only time I’ve seen him in action tho

    >> Kanye live is something to witness, one of the best performances i’ve ever seen

people over do it with rating people’s performances nowadays. a lotta rap shows are shit in real life, but because that’s how rappers make all their scratch they wanna brag. i haven’t seen Jay yet and i didn’t really want to, but it’d be dope to see him in person performing songs i already know word for word.

other than that… hip hop is no longer on the stage, it’s in my inbox

  14. ELECTROgREMLIN_CS88 Says:

“He actually sparked the idea,” Jay-Z told Billboard.com about the single. “When he heard the beat he said, ‘Man, this is just so hard! This has to be against everything — no auto-tune, none of that type of stuff!’ He didn’t know what I was going to do or where I was going to take it, but it was actually his fault.”

Jay-Z says that the two recorded one track with Auto-Tune previously for “The Blueprint 3,” but once “D.O.A.” came about, they decided to scrap it. “After we made the ‘D.O.A.’ record about a month ago, we were like, ‘if it’s got to go, it’s got to go.'”

As per his criticism of the egregious overuse of the Pro Tools plug-in, Jay-Z says it’s simply part of the hip-hop culture to be out with the old and in with the new. “In hip-hop, our job is once a trend becomes a gimmick, to get rid of it. We’ve done that since the beginning of time,” he explains. “Now people are using Auto-tune even in Wendy’s commercials, and it’s like, ‘Oh no! That’s has to go!’ It’s become part of main culture. It’s the same thing like when the old lady in Oregon starts saying, ‘bling, bling.’ It’s like, ‘I’m never saying that again.'”

Applaud Ye, put the battery in Hovs back.

  15. Brooklyn Strong Says:

I have a stan moment that I’m not proud of. seeing that Jay was retiring and I already buy certain memorabilia I bid on digitally numbered and autographed black album cd’s i got #2 and #5 it cost me $400. I shouldve only got one buti bidded on both and won. I tried to get #1 but someobody went to over 1g for that and i dropped out at $700. Fortunately the 2 cd’s came with tickets to the Black Concert at the garden. I wanted to go but instead I sold them too my barber and his brother I sold them for $500 for the pair so I thought I made off. The seats were for the area in front of the stage they threw money out and my barber and his brother came back with $400 and some other random shit Hov threw into the crowd I took a L all around cause as we know the Black Album wasn’t Hov’s last cd and thats the only reason I bid on it.

  16. Big_seth aka Bruce Bamma Says:

Kanye had a dope live show.

    Also see:

    Ludacris
    Lupe Fiasco
    Common
    N*E*R*D

  17. Beezy Says:

I didnt think Kanye’s show was overly great…I mean elaborate with the stage and whatnot…but overall nothing unheard of.

  18. Big Homie Says:

other than that… hip hop is no longer on the stage, it’s in my inbox

^ Ayo at in your inbox but cosigns before before “its in my inbox”

I’ve seen Jay live many times and its the hits that he has what makes his show great. I see what you sayin. His performances like many are basically the same..walking around the stage with the mic. His shows the previous years are have been almost exactly the same. His list of songs and his huge fan base is what makes his shows sell out. Most really dope hip hop shows are at small venues. Getting the crowd to participate plays a major role which is where Busta, MOP and Common come in. Jay standing their with his arms folded and having the thousands sing a verse a capella style is ill but not what I am thinking of crowd particpation. they all know the words because its in their inbox or played a zillion times on the radio

  19. PW Says:

Is there any way to get radio spins statistics for some of the bigger hip hop stations? I know there must be some agency that does that shit and actually makes it available.

  20. Big_seth aka Bruce Bamma Says:

    @BS

sounds like a win in the end.

I would have went to the show though.

I paid like $40 or 50 for a signed vinyl of The Cool.

    I’m still happy with that.

  21. I AM GERALD SALUTI Says:

I Seen Kanye’s Touch the Sky tour at msg theatre senior year of high school. Shit was a damn good show, my first concert, back when the nigga was normal

  22. Aram "Mr. Coke is a Popular Drug" aka Alfable Alpaca aka Congenial Complexion Says:

i saw Kanye on promo for College Dropout and he was kind of Iffy but he had the crowd buck[||]

  23. Big Homie Says:

Ye’s tour was “that great” imo because of the stage props. Shit was ill. As far as him performing…its nothing to crazy. He got the hits and the set up was great. Enjoyed the show. I guess there is a difference between a show and a performance. The show could be wack but a performance could of been ill because Jay opened up “Best of Both Worlds” with an actual bus crashing on stage as oppose to sittin down at an oval office set up and getting up to perform PSA a normal walk around on stage like you lazy as fuck and just rappin

  24. Danielson a.k.a. My Blog Game Proper™ Says:

Won tickets to see Jay on hot97 at one of the piers after kingdom come came out. It was cool cuz it was Jay. Wish i coulda seen him in 98 wen he was in rare form at the tunnel. Of course I might’ve been robbed or stabbed up

  28. Brodie Says:

I remember seeing Kanye at the homecoming concert for CAU my sophomore year. Him and Ciara were the headliners with a bunch of atlanta acts i can’t remember the name of. it was a cool show for a homecoming, but have yet to see a real show. It was worth the $10 though

I log on to all this yippity yap about rappers personality and stage presence etc. I mean wtf is a rappers personality s’posed to be anyway?
I concur with Land on the maybe fans are not getting it statement.

J.COle storytelling ability >> Jay Electronica’s and IMO Cole is waay more *listenable*.

Split you up, Heartache, I Get Up, World Is Empty, Simba, Lights Please, Girl of my Dreams etc >>>. Y’all sleeping on the kid for real.
