When being a stan goes wrong! No shots but c’mon, what has budden done on that level that is touching that? Forget a mixtape verse for a second, on the stage the wu was on at that time what has budden done to compete with that? That’s like saying Joe Budden “fire” > C.R.E.A.M. stop it tribe, just fall back. Everybody knows the words to “triumph” who is riding around listening to “pump it up?”

Dee Brown in the dunk contest wearing reebok pumps > pump it up

That’s a retarded ass question though…this shit makes no sense. They blazed all trails for cats like Slaughterhouse. Rugged beats, soul samples, cats murdering tracks with lyrics no hooks. Who made that acceptable?

I hope the Wu Tang Clan really teaches this Joe budden nigga a lesson…

Joe is a very disrespectful nigga…and when you call him out on it….he backpedals and denies it…

not at all. because the argument most of yall hold to is that the Wu has classics, but what even constitutes a classic anymore. No knock against artists that put out “classics” these days, but its more about marketability and less about the craft. If you put Slaughterhouse or Joe in the Wu era and switched the Wu into this era it would be similar… its not like the posse genre is real deep or expanding or anything.

lmao at j cole being better than anyone, i played his whole shit twice and started to really like it but then had to dead it – first couple joints was cool, rest was doodoo. that’s a one hot song every 5 songs average. fuck outta here. to be a freshman in the game ur first real mixtape has to be illmatic or else i can’t fuck with u. don’t give me no recycled shit. SFG had only a couple recycled beats. the secret is that if ur a freshman, u can’t just rip any old beat. u gotta bring *new shit.* new beats. new shwag. has to be a free album. cole’s shit wasn’t as tight as it could be.

I like all the dudes from Slaughterhouse artistically…I think you’re giving them a little too much credit. At no time period in hip-hop would they sell out worldwide tours the way that Wu did. I do think that all the emcees in Slaughterhouse are stuck in the wrong era though, I’ll give you that. But no way in hell could these two crews switch places and have the same results. Classic is classic. If Wu came out now, the movement would be the same.

  37. baby jesus Says:

Theres two things I would say to that. One is if Slaughterhouse were an innovator instead of a group that had the way paved for it then yes I think the results could possibly be diff. We will never know though… the other thing is the fact that most of the good hip-hop is relegated to E1/Koch, the internet and mixtapes speaks to whether or not (in this cae probably not) something is a classic. Wu wouldn’t get the momentum to make a classic because who wants to hear rappers battling about “imaginary emcees” or “real nigga shit” when theres a commercial rapper doing it over a beat thats better to roll to.

  41. Boos Bigelow Says:

No east coast group is gonna be viable in this era….wu was perfect for that era…

this is the swag era, a new wu can’t survive, just how it was hard for southern groups to be relevant in that era, except for a few

The only gangster rap group that gotta following is the LOX

  42. wrob4343 Says:

you put joe in the wu era he would either have gotten beaten bloody or murdered
    ___________________________________________________________

I have to agree totally with that one.

  43. Boos Bigelow Says:

slaughterhouse wouldn’t survive in the wu era…..The wu had street gangsta swag…slaughterhouse are all bland mc’s with the exception of royce.

Niggas was swag rapping back then, hence why rae and ghost are the two best out the group because they evoked the most swag in their flow

  44. Sean coonery Says:

Yeah but the LOX/D-Block goes double plastic…they got no money…and they can’t sell records..

No to mention Diddy been raping their pockets for 10 years…

  45. G7 Says:

    >>If Wu came out now, the movement would be the same.

    ====
i’m not too sure about that. its totally different today. hip hop today is more focused on “who’s hot” right now rather than who’s actually good. Wu would have a much harder time making an impact today compared to back in the 90’s.

    _____________________________________________________________

They won’t sell that much but if you got jadakiss you will at least sell SOME records so I’m saying thats the only group that “spits real lyrics” that can sell.

But there aren’t really any rap “groups” these days

^you know what i mean. most of the artists getting shine today are mad average compared to years ago. in the 90’s if you were good you had chance. the “industry” today is just looking for one hot lucky single or a ringtone. can’t compare.

  60. Prometheus Says:

I can’t believe this nigga is honestly comparing slaughterhouse to the wu, talkin about eras…
That’s like comparing the jonas brothers or blink 182 to the fucking beatles 40 years earlier.

If wu were from this modern age I don’t see them as having to struggle. Rza put out 36 chambers, tidal, return to the 36, cuban Linx, liquid swords, iron man, and wutang forever in a matter of four years. Consistency is consistency regardless of what era you’re in, and there’s no way slaughterhouse as a group or as each individual member will ever touch that 93-97 frame wutang consistency. Forget about era for a minute or what came first, if you were to compare wutangs debut to slaughterhouses there would be no competition. Forget about swag or release date, let the music speak for itself

so tonight was reggae night in my hood. (mattapan that is) i’m up in there w/my stellar spanish thang. (peruvian to be exact) we get there before the crowd and shit, tossing back the aforementioned libation. we in there talkin over the music then the crowd starts to fall in like an hour or so later. i ask her if she like reggae music and she’s like “well not the dancehall, but i love barrington levy.”(roots & culture basically) so i’m thinkin this gonna be a cheers pub night. so it finally gets to capacity and clubgoers are clamoring for drinks. i grab another patron and guinness, tell her lets motivate to the lounge area of the club cause it’s gettin thick @ the bar.
we move, then the selector spins an MJ set. i look @ her and see fire in her eyes. first song is ‘P.Y.T.’. she asks me to dance and i’m like fuks yea. so we gigging. this mahfuka playin MJ complete w/all them buuuhlshit effects that them ‘itsthereal’ dudes was talkin about. which fuks our momentum uuuuuuup. i mean, i had to come w/crazy banter filler to keep that tail on me. so selector ends the lil set w/’beat it’. mami gets real frenetic w/it. i’m like cool. we good. then this mahfuka throws the blaring horns throughout the hook. i start *DYING* while tryna maintain my hip thrust and X’s 20 two step. mami gets self conscious and eases up off me thinkin i’m clownin’ her but alls i can register is them ‘itsthereal’ white boys on that ‘no DJ tags post’.

then the selector wheels up barrington levys’ ’sweet lies’! to make an already long story short……

“maaan i smashed it like an idaho potato!”(c)dante flaco beze

i’m smelling her hair as i type this.
