it’s funny because in the peter parker interview with wiz khalifa, peter said u used to be the dude in the champion hoodie and baggy jeans and now you’re dressed like a nerd and wiz said that now he’s able to be himself

it’s ridiculous that these rappers claim that they have always been skater nerds but that they only feel it’s ok to reveal this part of themselves [||] now

gimmie a fucking break – yall dudes thought skating was corny till pharrell and lupe made u feel like it was ok

again, i fux with spitta, wiz, all these dudes, but just be real – yall borrowed half ur style from p and lu. give credit where it’s due

you on the other hand dillegently provide resistant responses to normal male activities you feel trigger emotional urges of homosexuality that I and other straight males don’t share.

I co-sign Pharrell making shit more mainstream and to a certain extent Lupe. But then the skaters I knew from the hood from where I grew up, hate both them niggas. I figure its the feeling that when you have something kind of exclusive and then mad people jump on the bandwagon.I seent the Same thing happen to TOny Hawk

^ I think what they mean is P and Lupe made it “popular” and “cool”. It’s kind of like T-Pain with the auto-tune, although he didn’t invent it he popularized it.

  21. Martin Margiela Mane Says:

    ^
Fair enough, but that skating shit isn’t exactly hip-hop culture, if minorities participated in it, it was because they was stepping outside of the box. anyway, the crux of my contention was that P made it mainstream.

I mean i never saw blk/latinos skating ever in my hood until i saw P then Lupe trotting around skateboards and making references, that’s all i’m saying..

oh for sure, skate culture goes back 40 years even and it was born in So-Cal, but I’m saying urban minority kids skating probably didn’t really start until like 15-20 years ago.

even that’s not true, because there was a Black kid in the Dogtown crew.

^^^Co-Sign, I skated and roller bladed GOOD too…I admit sometime niggas would try to play you and yell “cowabunga” or some shit but it was definetely always a staple in NYC since I could remember ESPECIALLY IN CENTRAL PARK…but Detroit, niggas would try to play you EARLY.

skated since “94”, and bike stunted on my Dyno

That’s not what i’m talking about. White kids raps and listen to Hip hop but that isn’t culture, they are the minority in it. Hence why we are the minority when skating and such, or at least was.
