Its funny how rappers think if they go over your head they are intelligent….first bitches

  2. kambani Says:

Check below the heavens by blu..nothing charles has done can rival or even be compared to that single blu album..b.o.b. Hes a all round beast..hes gonna be around a long time..as for charles come back to earth bra and smell the stuffy drain of ur mixtape output..alotta music but no substance bra..the last record that was ipod worthy was stay on the your level

  3. Grand Master Says:

smh @ how son had to think before recalling the word “inspiration”.

  4. lan Says:

I’m pretty sure he was being sarcastic with the “inspiration” thing.

Charles really needs to focus on his music and leave the interviews and vlogs alone for a while. There is a such thing as ummm. . .over saturation. I rarely agree with Chuck but what he’s saying is true. At the end of the day the older artist are trying to get or stay paid; they’ll set up whatever roadblocks necessary to maintain their position, stay relevant, and not get eaten by the young artist or the new movement.

The more we make, the more we take from other people (c)

made valid and excellent points. this is the charles hamilton people need to see. the other charles hamilton needs to remain locked in a basement on some antwoine fischer shit.

More of this and good music, less fuckery. everybody wins.

  6. Kambani Says:

Charlie….u should deliver a product that people can gravitate to son..charles hamilton, ace hood and wale need more artist development….the mixtape and blog feedback is the new artist development in case ur wondering. At the infancy of your career u should deal with alot of producers in person…

  7. GMZ Says:

He had some valid points in regards to the old school vs. the new school. BUT I have to agree with Soulja Boy’s video when he was gettin at Charles Hamilton.

(http://www.complex.com/blogs/2009/06/10/charles-hamiltons-greatest-fails-a-retrospective/ — its the first video, its true and funny as hell and he says some real stuff right around the 2:55 – 3:25 mark)

At the end of the day, if you’re an artist and you’re producing a product that enough people want, your music will move you to the forefront. I don’t give a fuck what major rapper/icon tries to hold you down, you’re going to come up if your music is hot. Period. Some niggaz forget that its not just music, its the music BUSINESS. Say what you want, but when “Turn My Swag On” comes on or when “You The Best” comes on, the building goes crazy. That’s two hits, by two niggaz that came from relative obscurity to blowing up. Drake put in a lot of work before all of this buzz as most people on nahright know. Anyways….

Cool Charles, don’t make club bangers. Nas has never been a club banger type dude either but that nigga has still been able to reach his target market. Charles needs to find his market and stop blaming other people for his inability to release the kind of music that generates a following beyond hip hop blogs/hip hop heads. That idealist stuff is for the birds. It’s called pop for a reason. Either make some music that’s going to be pop-ular or accept the fact that you will never fit that mold and move on.
    Peace.

wow the man states his opinion and you go righteat his career. his thoughts were very factual. All these label’s want is to deliver music to average fans and the younger market that doesnt seem to care about quality music. shit im 19 im a part of this distasteful generation. Guy’s like blu, bob, charles, wale, drake,j.cole, big sean, asher, need the help from fans and to change this horrible cycle of bad music. and FUCK POP! if you make pop you shouldnt be consider a hip hop artist plain and simple this guy^ is clueless. I understand your point but your falling into the same bs that charles just pointed out! by basically saying go ahead and make shitty radio music for dumbasses like you and yours and maybe you will blow up like you want! thts hypocracy! these guys want to stay true themeselves! and i admire that dont let these bloodsucking industry executives fuck up your music live and die for hip hop it’s more than music. well to me it is!

No one said make shitty radio music homey. Good music is good music. I never told him not to stay true to himself. In fact, any true artist is going to be true to himself.

I’m not a Soulja Boy fan, but the nigga does what’s real for him and he connects with a large fan base. Drake stays real to himself and he connects with a large fan base as well. If he makes hot music he’ll blow. But homey..by definition…if your song is hot…that makes it POPular! You’re looking at it from the angle that pop music = bubblegum rap…and that’s cool. But that’s not what I meant when I alluded to pop. I used pop in the sense that, pop = popular.

Either way, if you want to be heard by a larger fanbase you have to compromise. Fuck that idealist shit and grow up B. This is the real world. Life isn’t Burger King, you can’t just have it your way.

Like Hov said, “For those that think Hov’s thing is bling blingin / they either haven’t heard the album or they don’t know english / they only know what the single is / and singled that out / to be the meaning of what he’s about / and being um about my business / not minglin much runnin mouth / that shit kept lingerin / but no dummy that’s shit I’m sprinklin / the album with to keep the registers ringin …”

Hov’s song Minority Report doesn’t reach a large audience without H to the Izzo (popular) or a number of other singles…Hard Knock Life is iLL but it’s POPular as fuck son. I could go on with similar examples from plenty of other artists.

Some rappers sounds will never catch on with the public. Mos Def is ill. Talib is ill. AZ is my nigga. But these niggaz will never be out there in the sense that Charles is talking about in that video. Never. You want execs to financially back your music and promote it — well the people have got to want to hear it B. Throw the people a line with a worm and get them to buy the album and fall in love with your idealist sound. It’s a business.

Anyone that spends money for business-related expenses expects a return on that cash. If I don’t think there are enough people out there for me to make X% on the money I could spend on an artist’s marketing (or whatever expenses)…that money is going to be saved for someone else.
