    >you don’t think so? I think Bis is Top 100.

^You also think nautica is hot, shows alot about your opinion, lol j/k but forreal, I couldn’t put canny in a top 100 because his body of work to me isnt very impressive, when I think about some of the shit I like about his music I always think about a few freestyles, his DMX vs canibus mixtape, & that’s where it ends, no one wants to hear about how nice you are in every rap. He has no versatility

    >>only bammers like Boosie and Joe88 continuously insist “it’s not all about lyrics”

^It never has been all about lyrics, rakim will blow rev run out the water lyrically, but when it’s all said & done, Run DMC will be ranked higher because of the people they touched thru there music, and that’s what rap is all about, reaching the listener, we can rap about the same thing, you say it in a lyrical way I say it in a way that everyone can understand it & guess who’s the better rapper?

Like Boosie said ya’ll use being lyrical as a trump card, but truth is, no one cares about how neat the present was wrapped if what’s inside the box is bullshit, you can razzle dazzle a few with words, but if your not saying shit, your a bum with a educated mouth (pause) (c) Omillio sparks

  8. TheCo!!inB Says:

^Yep, it’s funny you brung jeezy up (pause), me & the homies was having this same convo, but I was on the defense for lyrics this time, my homies listens to no up north music, they swore me up & down that I stan max b cause he’s lyrical, but they never heard a single song from him, if they did, they would know that’s not the case. Point is, same way i’m saying this to ya’ll I said it to them, RAP NEEDS BALANCE, to say one is more important than the other is foolish

Yes but in all reality….from the islands to west africa and throughout all parts….this is what we do…we dance…how many african documentaries where you seen that white dude or broad in cargo shorts and hiking boots sitting on a tree stump watching 10 year old girls jitter and jook around a fire pit?

why are people so embarrassed by dance songs? how is a dance song cooning?

But isnt the whole continent of Africa cooning when they jump around a snake in the fire with their face painted up?

    ^^
Impossible, coon was a derogatory term created by honkies in America for our eyes.Cooning meant a black person(coon) shucking and jiving to entertain massa. How could tribal dance and rituals that been around for centuries be cooning?

  43. TheCo!!inB Says:

also say what you will about the south but the music always felt more organic down there. it’s the self taught musician argument where if you just decide you wanna play and take it serious, but don’t learn music theory you’ll come up with crazier ideas for music because you don’t have a formal education that will limit you. you won’t say “i can’t go to F mj from B flat” cause you don’t know any fucking better. Same with lyricism, new york rap is studied and studied to the poin where a rapper can be technically sound but can’t evoke that feeling that niggas like Jeezy and Gucci evoke because there process into rapping was more educational than organic…….if that makes sense

  44. eskay Says:

    >>Speaking did Kanye Recycle his verse for both TI and the Clipse?

thats what I was asking Dre, that verse gave me de ja vu.

  45. Mr. First Says:

    Nas > Jay
    Pac > BIG

… and I’ll even take the time to tell you clowns why. It’s pretty simple, actually. Nas over Jay shouldn’t even be a debate, because Jones’ lyrical content and rhyme schemes are on some other shit. Jay is dope, but he doesn’t go outside the box enough. Nothing needs to be said about Illmatic and Stillmatic, but could Hov make an album like Hip Hop Is Dead? Nah Right.

As for Pac and Big, I always tell people this: Big said things in ways that no one else could say them, but Pac said things that no one else was saying. Does Pac have a lot of weak albums? Yes, I’ll admit to that. But could Big make a record like Keep Ya Head Up, Letter to My Unborn, or Brenda’s Got a Baby? Nah Right.

there was plenty of dancing in the 80’s and 90’s with minimal shucking and jiving.

    ——-

    like the Smurf ?

    or the Runnin Man?

    or the Cabbage Patch?

    i’ont know B …

^I think the fact that these dances have songs to accompany them nowadays is what adds to the coonery and bafoonery. The ignorant ass lyrics that you hear as the kids do the dance is what sets it back…there was no do the runnin’ maaaaaaan or I’m cabbage..I’m patching…back then.

  85. Mr. First Says:

We doing popularity contests now, esk? Nas has one wack album (Nastradamus, I aint even gonna count The Firm), and everybody swears he “fell off”. Like every album Jay put out is golden. gtfoh with that stannery. We could even compare album for album if you’d like…

    Lupe Fiasco > Jay-z

  87. Boosie Says:

the running man is a clown man’s dance on the strength…You look stupid for doing it now….ALL dances have age effect on them

    was the jitterbug clownish?

A dance is a dance….the 90’s hip-hop school of thought might be the most powerful psychology in social shift changing in the past 100 years

The devil comes in many forms…… drugs, that fine bitch with the super wet snatch, an opportunity that seems too good to be true. The devil may seem beautiful, smart, wise, and may even seem to have your best interest. But beware……. the devil is a muthafukkin LIAR!!! Also the devil makes your life very easy…. If bad things never seem to happen to you, even when you know you deserve reprocussions, you may have sold your soul.

  90. Jersey*made*me Says:

how is Gnoz better than Jay? in what respect? Jay has a better track record as far as good albums. everybody knows he has more hit songs. Jay packs stadiums, Nas can’t pack a club,

    ^^
Jay has the stronger image, that’s not even open for discussion. That Roc movement was serious and he held the clubs down for a looooong time. But Hov never said too much of nothing in his songs he just put them together well and had the best production money could buy.Nas is hands down the best nigga to spit sharp ass lyrics full imagery and wordplay and he rode tracks perfectly.

    C’mon maaaaan…

    Of course certain songs last.

But if your intention is making a “club banger” and it only lasts a month of spins…that shit is basically a waste of space for the remainder of time.

^lol, I know, just wanted to make sure you knew.

I’ll say for every 10 club bangers that come out this year, 2 to 4 of them will last, I swear when marcus houston & joe budden “in the club” came on I was 2 steppin up a storm (of course I was indoors, alone) just saying you wont listen to it everyday like you use to but it’s still hot cause it was a good song, not a good party song a good song (not talking bout the MH & budden song)

Play T.I “What you know” I bet everyone around will start nodding there head (pause)

    R.J.Orion Says:

thats true for R&B, soul & jazz … but HipHop has never been considered purely “dance” music, so it has other standards to adhere to … …

    _____________________________________________________________

There are no standards for hip-hop, because Dance music or jiggy music has been mostly played and remembered throughout time….

If you saying dance music like the south music then I can understand, but the Bounce and club music like jay diddy and others made then that stands the test of time.

Dances have always had songs to accompany them since the beginning of American culture

    twist
    electric slide
music in the 20 and 30’s and so on

WOW!! I’M GOING TO WRITE IN CAPS SO THE OWNER OF THIS BLOG WILL ACTUALLY , MAYBE PAY ATTENTION TO THE COMMENT I’M ABOUT TO WRITE. I’M GOING TO START WITH THIS….FIRST OFF, ALL THESE LITTLE KIDS ON HERE THAT JUST POST UP FOOLISH COMMENTS ABOUT ARTISTS BEING BETTER THAN THIS ARTIST AND VOICING THEIR OPINIONS….THIS IS NOT JOURNALISM!! AND JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE CREATED A BLOG, DOES NOT GIVE THEM THE CREDIBILITY TO BE LABELED A JOURNALIST. BC/ MORE THAN LIKELY, AS I’M SEEING THE SUDDEN SURGE OR EXPLOSION OF HIP HOP BLOGS BEING CREATED BY ANYONE WHO HAS ACCESS TO A COMPUTER, THEY ARE SIMPLY COPYING POSTS FROM OTHER BLOGS AND POSTING THEM ONTO THEIRS, I MEAN C’MON. I MUST ADMIT I VIST ABOUT 8 HIP HOP BLOGS DAILY, AND ANOTHER 5-6 ACTUAL HIP HOP SITES. MAJORITY OF THE INFORMATION/SONGS POSTED ARE USUALLY THE SAME, ITS JUST WHO GOT THE LEAK FIRST. CAN YOU ACTUALLY IMAGINE HOW MANY MORE BLOGS WOULD OR WILL BE DEVELOPED BY KIDS IF AND WHEN THEY ACTUALLY INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF PROFITS YOU CAN RECEIVE FROM POSTING DL’S OF SONGS/BOOTLEG FILMS? I BELIEVE LAST TIME I CHECKED, IT WAS A DOLLAR OR A COUPLE DOLLARS PER EVERY 2,000 DOWNLOADS…LOL. WHAT WERE ACTUALLY WITNESSING IS A NEW ERA OF ENTERTAINMENT, JUST LIKE MY MAN SAID IN THIS VIDEO WITH THE PEREZ HILTON BLOG =ENTERTAINMENT FOR SOME PEOPLE, NOW PERSONALLY, I’VE NEVER BEEN TO THAT BLOG, FOR ONE I REFUSE TO SUPPORT AND GIVE HITS TO A SITE THAT IS OWNED BY A FAG, AND SECOND IS BECAUSE…IF I’M NOT MISTAKEN, ITS ALL FOOLISHNESS ABOUT CELEBRITIES….AND TO BE HONEST, I REALLY DON’T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT CELEBRITIES, IF PPL WOULD JUST LEARN TO BE THEMSELVES, THEY REALLY WOULDN’T CARE ABOUT FAMOUS PPL’S LIVES…BECAUSE BOTTOM LINE IS, FAMOUS PPL ARE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME, EXCEPT THEY A LOT OF MONEY, A LOT OF FAME/NOTORIETY, AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO MAKE A SEVERE IMPACT ON OTHERS LIVES….IF THAT PERSON IS RESPECTED…AND I MEAN IN ANY COMMUNITY…HIP HOP, FASHION, FILM…W/E. POINT BEING, WE ARE WITNESSING A CHANGE FROM GENERATIONS OF TV WATCHERS TO KIDS READING AND LISTENING AND WATCHING ON COMPUTERS/INTERNET….TV IS FADING, WHY DO YOU THINK WERE SEEING COMMERCIALS PROMOTING TV SHOWS ON THE INTERNET NOW, LIKE HULU, AND WHY HAVE TICKET SALES DROPPED FOR THEATRE FILMS? MAYBE BECAUSE PPL WOULD RATHER SAVE 10-20 DOLLARS AND WATCH A FILM IN THE COMFORTABILITY OF THEIR HOME, RATHER THAN AN UNCOMFORTABLE CHAIR, WITH RUDE PPL TALKING DURING THE FILM, AND PAYING FOR OVERPRICED SNACKS, WHEN YOU COULD JUST EAT WHATEVER YOU WANT IN YOUR HOUSE. NOW BACK TO HIP HOP, I’VE NOTICED THROUGH ALL THESE BLOGS, RECENTLY WERE SEEING AN INFLUX WITH THESE STUPID VIDEOS OF ARTISTS LIVE ON STAGE…LIKE YOU CAN ACTUALLY HEAR THE MUSIC WHEN WATCHING THE VIDEO?? HAHA, BECAUSE I’VE NOTICED EVERYTIME I’VE WATCHED ONE, ITS DROWNED OUT BY THE BASS, AND ITS JUST A WASTE OF MY LIFE. THE VIDEO’S OF JOURNALISTS INTERVIEWING ARTISTS ARE ACTUALLY APPEALING TO ME THOUGH….THAT IS TRUE JOURNALISM, I ACTUALLY WROTE QUITE AN INTERESTING INTERVIEW FOR AN EXTREMELY WELL KNOWN ARTIST, AND IT IS NOT YOUR NORMAL INTERVIEW, BECAUSE THE QUESTIONS ARE BASED SOLELY ON ONE SPECIFIC THING, AND IF THE OWNER OF THIS BLOG WOULD LIKE TO READ IT, PLEASE GET AT ME…..WHICH I THINK YOU ALREADY HAVE THE ABILITY TO ACCESS MY EMAIL ADDRESS, DUE TO REQUIREMENTS TO EVEN POST A REPLY HERE. I DO AGREE WITH A LOT OF THE COMMENTS FROM THE CREDIBLE PPL IN THIS VIDEO REGARDING PUBLICITY STUNTS…IT TRULEY IS GETTING OVER-SATURATED AND OBVIOUS THAT MOST ARE LIES, TRYING TO FOLLOW SUITE OF SOMETHING THATS ALREADY BEEN DONE BEFORE. FOR EXAMPLE, THE ASHER ROTH NAPPY HEADED HO’S WAS OBVIOUSLY INTENDED TO GET PPL TO TALK ABOUT HIM, WHICH IN TURN WILL GAIN THE INTEREST OF THE PUBLIC TO WANT TO HEAR WHAT HIS RECORDS ARE ABOUT AND PURCHASE MORE SONGS. I’LL TELL YOU WHATS REALLY SAD THOUGH, IS WHEN YOU SEE DESPERATE ARTISTS LIKE SOULJA BOY ATTEMPT TO STAGE A HOME INVASION TO GAIN PUBLICITY TO SELL HIS RECORDS…I MEAN DID ANYONE NOTICE HOW THAT SUDDENLY HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER HIS ALBUM CAME OUT? LOL, OR THE BEEF BETWEEN HIM AND BOW WOW, RIGHT BEFORE BOW WOW’S ALBUM…AND THAT WAS PROMOTED ON THISIS50, SO I GUESS THEY BOTH GAINED DECENT EXPOSURE, BUT C’MON, SINCE WHEN HAS BOW WOW DONE DISS RECORDS? =PUBLICITY STUNT. THE WORST OUT OF ALL THOUGH, IS WHEN ARTISTS DO THINGS TO THEMSELVES TO LOOK HARD, LIKE MAINO CARVING THAT SCAR ON HIS FACE WITH A RAZOR HIMSELF! BECAUSE ANYONE WHO’S BEEN TO JAIL/PRISON KNOWS, YOU DON’T REALLY DO SHIT LIKE THAT TO PPL UNLESS YOUR TAGGING THAT PERSON TO THE PUBLIC IN JAIL/PRISON MAKING OTHER INMATES AWARE THAT THEY ARE A RAPIST/MOLESTER….SO I MEAN THE GUY JUST LOOKS STUPID, EITHER WAY…HE MADE HIMSELF LOOK LIKE A RAPIST/MOLESTER, AND ACTUALLY DID IT TO HIMSELF….LOL THATS THE FUNNIEST PART, I’M TELLING YOU MAN, THAT’S THE PROBLEM THESE DAYS WITH HIP HOP….PPL NEED TO LEARN TO PULL RAPPERS CARDS! YOU CAN’T JUST BELIEVE EVERYTHING THEY RAP ABOUT, DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BECOME A “FAN.” THEN WHAT ELSE IS FUNNY, IS WHEN THEY CONTINUE TO SELL THEIR SOUL FOR FAME BY TATTOOING THEMSELVES UP TO CONTINUE TO LIVE THE LIE THAT THEY HAVE CREATED, AND MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK HARD….WHY CAN’T PPL JUST BE THEMSELVES? WHY ARE PPL SOO FAKE? FOR EXAMPLE….DID MAINO HAVE ALL THOSE TATTOOS BEFORE HE STARTED RAPPING?? NO! LOL….SHIT IS A JOKE, HALF OF ALL THESE ARTIST OR EVEN MORE ARE FUCKING FRAUDS….I HOPE THIS BROUGHT SOME INSIGHT TO SOMONE WHO MIGHT’VE ACTUALLY READ THIS….I’M OUT…..DETROIT….1
