drake’s buzz most certainly started with the blogs but now the blogs are just documenting the meteoric rise of this dude

the haterd it totally to be expected – it’s impossible to only be loved and not hated

the strong hatred is purely an indication of massive, pending success

drake is the voice of the next generation of rap

experimental, a mish mash of all coasts, a mish-mash or rap and r&b, no gun talk, lots of sex talk, good raps, smart, witty, and then as for drake, good stage presence, bright young mind like will smith, etc etc etc

hate all u want but what u are seeing is history in the making. you just can’t front on dude. so far gone accomplished more than anyone could possible accomplish with a mixtape.

props to his mgmt, his beatmakers, his engineers, the biz the biz the bizness, everyone and everything around him because they brung this dude to a new level of success

“oh, if eskay says the song isn’t good, it must be because he hates Curtis”
    =========================================
But you admit you hate Curtis so your opinion is worthless.

  4. Beezy aka Rowdy Roddy Pipe Her Says:

what happened to star & buc? Dre paid eskay to take it down?

  5. eskay Says:

basically what chea said. I don’t even really fuck with Drake that tough, but that kid is gonna smash the game. if you can’t respect that your whole perspective is wack.

  6. Black Says:

I think that blogs definitely help an artist get a solid fanbase all over the country that will enable them to do modest shows and make a very respectable living. However, the mark of a true superstar is still the guy who can go platinum+. Thing is I think that most of the new rappers have that type of potential based off the content of their music.

when did I say I hate Curtis? and even if I did, why would that make my opinion worthless? is it worthless if I say I hate him but I love his new song? or is it only worthless when it doesn’t parrallel how you feel?

Basically. Last cat that got hated on this much sold 3 million copies of a pretty average (for him) album.

    THIS.

I hope drake is succesful, but I hear/ see more people outside of the net fuxin with CuDi. His song is like #4 in the country & its off a mixtape.

    >>If your popping on the internet thats cool, it’s filled with real people the problem is that these same people will be able to get your album by clicking their mouse 2 weeks before it’s released officially.

true, but we need to get away from that mentality that selling records is the only measure of success.

^^So lets call this the “popularity business then? If you aint gonna count record sales then what fuckin point does this have? How will we know how to compare say a Prince to a MJ? A Jayz to a Nas?

Oh I get it..we’ll start counting concert ticket stubs.

ALL IM SAYING IS..Drake’s album better be better than the shit he has out now or people will say he fell off. The MUSIC on his album better compare to the mixtape..or he will be labeled as “fallin off” …

IF during his career , Brand New, Successful etc(mixtape shit) are his most famous records..then he lost.

    ==============================
Cause your opinion is inheritly biased.

How can you give his music a fair shot if you don’t like him as an artist?

  21. Big Homie Says:

or is it only worthless when it doesn’t parrallel how you feel?

  23. Black Says:

drake is the voice of the next generation of rap

^Agreed. This phase of not really rap is popular right now. Drake is a label’s dream. His whole image is crossover ready. Personally i think J.Cole is better than dude but if i had to put money on who will be more successful than I’d have to go with Drake.

  24. El feces lOco Says:

Im too smart for NR today..people can’t see past them thinking “you’re hating” to answer the fucking question.

If 10 years from now Drake is most known for Brand New and Successful..some mixtape shit..and not actual catalogued album music..THAT NIGGA IS A FAILURE.

But since no one answered, I guess its safe to assume that now we’re not counting albums sales..we’re now counting concert ticket stubs to show “SUCCESS”

  25. eskay Says:

    >>How can you give his music a fair shot if you don’t like him as an artist?

very easily. I loved GRODT, and mostly everything prior to that, so I have a history of being a fan of Curtis. plus, I’m not a little girl, so it’s not that hard for me to put aside whatever personal feelings I have about him as a person/artist and listen to the music without bias.

I didn’t like that monkey faced fuck at all when he was squaring off against Yeezy, but I still bumped the shit outta the Body Snatchers mixtape and I still do.

  26. BARPAN Says:

I only pointed out that the drake love is real, its not some imaginary buzz on the net….but niggas get so emotional about music that they don’t realize it.

If you don’t fuck with drake, then you don’t…..but mad niggas and bitches fuck with him, so it is what it is, and thats what you gotta accept.

^^OK..understood…I don’t really know how I got into this ping pong match with you..

ALL IM SAYING IS..Drake took 2 years to buzz his SMASH HITS…within those 2 years he’s made OTHER MUSIC..NONE OF IT has been labeled SMASH HITS..such as Brand New, etc has.

Do you think Drake can sell out venues with a mixtape, and a wack album? His album better be better than his mixtape or its CURTAINS.

Drake= Camron 2 weeks ago..all that BUZZIN shit dont mean shit till the album drops..women lie, men lie…numbers don’t lie (c)Nas
    __________________________________________________________

are you an actuary? or have a risk management degree in hip-hop? Mad niggas put out shitty albums and have bounced back. WHO KNOWS what will happen or not, whats the point of worrying or talking about it? All he has to do is put out hot songs and pack the venues, if he does that what does it matter how his album will do or will sound.

If he drops a wack album then its wack….you’ll think he’ll ja rule himself? by dropping a wack album? Are you inferring that his album will be wack?

Based on his current music from his mixtape, its a good indicator that the songs will be like that on the album, I don’t know how you can forsee his album will be wack, unless you just want it to be or dont like him.

  28. eskay Says:

    >>But since no one answered, I guess its safe to assume that now we’re not counting albums sales..we’re now counting concert ticket stubs to show “SUCCESS”

and what if we are? what’s wrong with that?
    average concert ticket: $35

    average CD: $12

and you can’t bootlegg a concert ticket.

problem is, you got that fucking slave mentality. “record labels told us for years this is the only way for an artist to earn money or measure success, so they must be right” meanwhile, them execs is getting fat as fuck and you’re getting 1 dollar outta that 12. and now, they want you to sign a 360 deal so they can get a piece of your concert money, because they ain’t stupid, they see where the game is going.

I think the 50 hate is so high right now he could give you shit better than illmatic and ya’ll will say its garbage, the hate for him corrupts your opinion. I’m far from a 50 stan and I think this shit is pretty hard
    ==========================================
I don’t think everybody hates on 50. Mostly everyone rooted for 50 as the underdog but now he’s no longer the underdog and his music shows that. I’d rather he get in the studio instead ofputting on pimpin curly wigs or promoting Tia’s book. Get Your Ass in the Studio 50!! Them Country boys talking reckless about NY
