No it’s not hate, it’s my opinion that the song is trash, i think the album is crazy so the notion of me hating Ross in any way is asinine. It’s hate because i don’t agree with you…

  7. Johnathan Osterman Says:

Black Star did indeed change the game (on an underground level of course)

I can think of 3 other songs that are way worse then The-Dream joint, and even those songs aren’t complete trash.

if u can’t respek the lyrical acrobatics on black star’s abum then ur whole perspective is wack

i listen to that album to this day and say to myself — they don’t even need to a do a second album. just re-release a commemorative edition with a DVD showing mos and kweli smoking weed and freestyling in the 90s and do a little video for MTV2 and the shit might sell 50,000 plus, easy

    ==========================
Nah, it’s hate because you don’t agree with logic. It’s really not a bad song, in fact, I’d go as far to say it’s better then both the Ne-Yo & Thicke featured joints. It has a very Michael Jackson/”Off The Wall” vibe to it & Ross kills it with the lyrics. I think you hated it initially & never gave it another chance. It’s gonna be a big record, so you might as well get used to it.

  22. Gucci Phelps Says:

Again th notion of someone hating on a song from an artist they advocate, defies logic thinking in itself. The song is trash to me and your just going to have to get used to me saying that.

    Not really.

You’re not a fan of The-Dream, are you?

  35. Bernard J. Ease Says:

Good album, didn’t change the game. That’s all I’m saying.

    ^^
The album launched the late 90’s underground movement that is eseentially responsible for Common becoming an actual star and The Roots being mainstream succesess. It was also the wave of “commerical vs. underground” from a NY perspective that the city’s musical scene still hasnt fully recovered from.

    It definetly changed the game.

    *daps all in vicinity*

  36. Johnathan Osterman Says:

Joe & Cass both cheated by having verses longer than everyone else lol. Both ill verses either way

Stacks, Wayne & Fab are the unsung heroes of that beat IMO

Jae Millz has the worst of the 6 verses to touch that beat

  44. AmpGeez a.k.a. AG Da Gooseman Says:

    >>>The album launched the late 90’s underground movement…

    No it didn’t.

Kanye’s responsible for being a star & The Roots aren’t a mainstream success. They struggle to go gold.

  45. Jamz Says:

Back when groups like Black Star & Reflection Eternal dropped albums, the internet and music industry were different. U didn’t have all of tools like Myspace, Youtube, Facebook, etc. to post music and interact with fans. The average hip-hop fan would have never been able to guage the true impact of those records like they can with the records released today.

Truthfully, groups like Black Star & Reflection Eternal didn’t change the “underground” hip-hop movement because they’re a few of the pioneers that built it…

  46. Gucci Phelps Says:

    It’s a good song.

    Niggas is just hating…as usual
    ^^
You know i like the Ross album but to me the song is too uptempo for him, and he doesn’t hop on the beat right from the beginning, the hook has it’s moments but no….IMO..

    NH
    ^^

also, it really doesn’t mesh well with the rest of the songs on the album. Deeper Than Rap is a very cohesive album and that song IMO doesn’t belong. If you love it then i’m very happy for you….enjoy

  52. Bernard J. Ease Says:

The Roots aren’t a mainstream success. They struggle to go gold.

I shouldve been more specific. They’re mainstream (at least Questlove) in terms of visibility and name recognition. Alot of people don’t own Roots albums, but pretty much everyone knows who they are.

From Black Star came a rejuvenated Common (from Respiration) and a creation of the musical aesthetic that would make classics out of albums like Things Fall Apart, Like Water for Chocolate, and Reflection Eternal.

Kanye did alot to make Common a star, but without the late 90’s movement that the Black Star album was at the forefront of, he may not have even made it to 2004.

    It’s Stay High 149, not 189

  109. AmpGeez a.k.a. AG Da Gooseman Says:

Wayne came at that beat on a different angle to everybody though…How he was spitting was quite miraculous
    ======================================
Wayne did hisa thing but Cass was focused from the first line to the last. There’s a continuity in his verse that no one else on either version matched.

Seth let me know if you want MM2 with no DJ
    ^^
Yeah tribe, that was a major addition to my archive….how did you get that?

–It was one of the hardest things to find, but i was listening to mm2 one night and was so pissed at Dj on point that i was determined to find the no dj version. Took me about 2-3months of non stop searching but i found it… A day later that link was dead lost forever. That night was godly!

I’m just saying, in here, Joe’s the GOAT & as nice as he is, that’s just not true.
    ^^
And i guess you felt compelled to say this once again when absolutely not one person was saying that

“Yeah there is absolutely no way anyone had a better verse then Budden on 6 minutes”

    Stop it.

Millz had a solid album. Label changes fucked him up cause he just kept making new songs, changing the single & what not.

Hi guys, i go by the name of D_Block_4_Life. I personally think Joe Buddens verse over the Neo Da Matrix helmed “6 Minutes” was the best out of the other 6 that were spit by fellow rappers.

Disclaimer: This is just my opinion and should not be talkin’ up the anal cavity. I don’t want to sway anybody else’s opinions with this alleged propaganda. This are strictly my view and no ones else’s. It is completely acceptable if no one else agrees with the aforementioned assessment. Thanks for your time.

Nothing. I’m just so used to being an individual it seems weird for a person to constantly refer to the rest of the room like it’s a hive mind or something. I comment on The Smoking Section & even though there’s a comradery within the comments section, there is no “we”. That’s something unique to Nah Right.
