Kabbalah is some trendy Hollywood shit. Mos needs to cut it out.

  2. R.J.Orion Says:

Alex Rodriguez got into Kabbalah fucking with Madonna … his life has endured an alarming series of negative events, since … isnt Dante supposed to be smarter than this ? … the child support dramas should have raised a red flag that dude isnt the wise head that he portrays himself to be … what a dufus ….

  3. 911 Says:

    Ionno R.J…

Having trouble with woman isn’t really a defining measurement of one’s mental capacity. Shit, I know I have mine. Also exprimenting with different faiths is quite possibly the smartest thing a person could do prior to adopting to something you’re not wholly comfortable with. In comparison to blind faith, at least.

true … but you should also learn from the mistakes and successes of others … who of Dante’s background, has Kabbalah benefitted? … or from any background for that matter …

This may ruffle some feathers, but I’m totally opposed to organized religion. It fosters a sheep mentality.

–Im gonna have to disagree, Seeing as how just about every bamma, spic and teenage asshole has a kid because they forget to wear a condom.

Not to mention the Messiah of Baby fathers, Travis Henry.

    Pretty much…

i disagree… not paying child support is having trouble with your child and your personal responsibilities, not woman trouble … especially since he obviously makes enough money to fend for himself and his offspring …

  9. nation Says:

yo dickheads, i was joking. Mos was on there defending Islam to the death last time, Bill Maher wasn’t tryna hear him out

  10. rex hussla Says:

Mos was talking a little too much…and talking over the other guests at times making but overall he had a lot of good points and held his own. I never miss this show…even though at times Bill Maher can make me cringe but overall you can’t beat the topics and open forum to pretty much say anything you want

  11. 911 Says:

    salutes rj & amp.

rj, I totally understand, well maybe not totally, but I believe I have some understanding of your angle. It seemed damning, so what I wrote was meant moreso for perspective for perspective readers. I do agree with your response.

I’m not tight on the history of kaballah, but in listening, to most of Mos Def’s, this seems inline with what he would choose. A religion that is left of center to most of the rest.

No wiki, but isn’t kaballah the “rhetorical religion” or something along those lines?

I actually do remember that. With that said, I still co-sign land’s assessment of Mos’ child support woes.

Thank you for the video, i dont currently have hbo and have been missing Maher. Mos Def representing..

^^Why would you be worried about what feathers are ruffled because of what you think? I don’t understand…

  15. dt Says:

yo mos needs to chill out and fucking let people speak, he didn’t notice that when he was talking everybody listened, and that when other people were talking he wouldnt’ shut the fuck up unless told to do so? for an educated guy who is smart it makes him sound really stupid when he is just yelling over people

  16. 911 Says:

i disagree… not paying child support is having trouble with your child and your personal responsibilities, not woman trouble … especially since he obviously makes enough money to fend for himself and his offspring …

^if neglect is the charge then damned he should be. What the media purports and what actually occurs is becoming less and less trustworthy, IMO. But again, on principle, I agree with what you type here.

  17. spirit equality Says:

    hmmm.

i think that there are other people with ideas on how to address the financial crisis and it is simplistic to say obama has the only solution. most importantly, many people have suggested changes to his current path. some people suggest a market oriented solution (changing accounting rules and tax law to encourage the purchase of toxic assets), some people are for receivership of certain entities receiving bailout funds instead of the current plan of feeding them public money without having corresponding public control, some people are for nationalizing the banks…there are so many ideas on the table outside of obama’s current plan, it’s almost criminal to pretend like he’s the only one with ideas in this field.

rushdie’s support for a global currency is gonna make the NWO theorists go crazy. wish someone would have challenged him to explain why exactly that would be a good idea (and how it could even feasibly be orchestrated…it took years to set up the euro and that’s a relatively compact geographic area with a history of alliances like NATO).

  18. spirit equality Says:

i think obama’s approach to the financial crisis is wanting and seems more aimed at giving banks everything they want rather than aimed at the most optimal solution.

additionally, i haven’t heard much in the way of increasing regulation: re-instating the glass-steigall act, etc, in order to avoid future catastrophes of this nature. clearly we need more insurance regulation to avoid future AIGs, etc

while we’re at it, we need to be moving as quickly as possible to wrap up overpriced police actions like the occupation of iraq so we can re-direct those funds into domestic stimulus efforts.

  21. lol Says:

Is it me , or does Mos Def have the Max B’s about him?

  22. Money Says:

wow Im pretty sure Mos is mentally retarded

  23. elgindotcom Says:

mos def always kill it when he’s on this show.. its the only time i ever watch it..

  24. XactoMundo Says:

Yeah, Mos was entertaining but also sorta paranoid/delusional at the same time. OK, I get it, you’re suspicious of the government, Mos. You can’t tell me his Islamic faith doesn’t inform some of the disturbing opinions he expressed on Iran and Al Qaeda.

  25. pps Says:

I like Mos Def as a rapper, but that was some ignorant sh*t. He was loud and did not let the other person (who just happens to be one of the greatest writers on our century Sir Salman Rushdie) talk throughout the first part of the program. In overtime he asked about what Al Queda’s manifesto and when the other two people answered him, he didn’t listen to the answer and was very naive and ignorant. I don’t like that drunkard Hitchens, but he was right to intellectually pimp slap Mr Definitely

  26. Laura Says:

Mos Def has NPD — narcissism personality disorder. He kept asking childishly broad questions — “what is al queda’s politics? Can somebody tell me?” and then dissing the answer, almost before Hitchens or Rushdie could get the words out. He clearly just wanted to be the center of attention and was not interested in learning anything. It’s a shame, because Hitchins and Rushdie are so educated on this subject and have much to contribute. But Mos Def was only interested in derailing the conversation so he could score some “look at me” points. What a phony!

Bill Maher has to do a better job of moderating. He tends to let the loudest blowhards who have the least to contribute to the conversation dominate the conversation.

  27. fabian Says:

I agree completely. Mos Def sounded ignorant and childish, regardless of the entertainment value of seeing Christopher Hitchens own him intellectually, he had no business sitting at that table.
