put it like this, if you lived outside the tri-state area, and wasnt from compton, you swacked a niggas style.

^But Jersey was, and still is, second-class citizens on any scale that involved fashion and hiphop. Jersey don’t even have their own identity or any city of their own that has enough influence to garner that statement. If you live in North Jerz, you’re leftovers from NYC. South Jerz’s is Philly’s dump.

Baltimore’s identity has ALWAYS been unique. You can call it wack or whatever, but definitely no comparable.

Jersey (NEWARK) even bit B’more’s Club music, which any DJ in that area will admit to who plays it.

    ^en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_club

Baltimore club was born in nightclubs such as Club Fantasy, the Paradox, and Club Choices.[2] The original musicians of the genre were influenced by Michael Jackson, and it was later combined with elements of Miami bass, [3] but influence from hip-house is the cornerstone of the style. Club Paradox also hosted one of the most popular hip hop-themed club nights on the East Coast, “Fever”, and helped to spread the popularity of Baltimore club with a wider audience. The Paradox Friday night club DJs, KW Griff and Rod Braxton, took some inspiration for their sets and production from the British breakbeat hardcore records[3] they heard at Fever and on V103 mix shows. The Blapps! Records (UK) label released several records between 1989 and 1992 that are considered classics in the Baltimore genre, as well as in the British rave scene. “Don’t Hold Back”, “Too Much Energy” and “Let the Freak” were sampled and played heavily by DJs and producers, and would define the Baltimore club sound.

In the late 1990s, Baltimore club music developed a cult following in the North Jersey club scene, particularly in the Brick City club genre of Newark, New Jersey. This spread stems from the distribution of mix tapes from traveling Baltimore deejays. There were also a number of Boston-area radio shows in the mid-nineties that played Baltimore club music.

Recently the genre has gained popularity in Baltimore’s rock underground, due to Baltimore club nights at the Talking Head Club and others. Baltimore club was featured in Spin Magazine in January 2006.

Perhaps if I google dreads and tall tees.

What L did I take? Our culture is obviously prevalent in today’s society. Jersey had A CLUB. That’s it.

lmao @ icon calling for a dance off

  115. D. Billz Says:

Club music has a distinctive “sound”. People just call it “club” because that’s mostly were it’s played. Having a club in your neighborhood back when niggas had bell bottoms and Richard Roundtree mustaches does not a legacy make.

^I’m right here, lol. Salty? Over what? I just proved that Jersey currently has NO influence to anything right now. Am I wrong? Of course not.

I just posted THREE (count ’em) major articles of B’more’s music influencing the current subculture of hiphop that is Club music. I coulda kept going but I made my point. Jersey has always been second-class and will continue to be. Innovators of NOTHING distinctive. Whatever yall got poppin’ right now is just run-off from whatever major city yall are close to.

^No, your original comment was some slick shit about DC/B’more and fingerwaves. And since you wanted to be funny (but not really) then I commenced to the pulling of cards. Because quiet as kept aint nothin’ influenced by Jersey right now. B’more has been pushin’ the club music into the mainstream since ’89/’90 and it’s constantly growing. More magazine articles, more artists sampling, and more DJ’s INTERNATIONALLY giving us props.

I don’t see that, and NEVER have, on any level see that on Jersey’s radar.

I’ve never heard anything from Baltimore Music wise ever. Jersey got rap stars and rich guido houses. Plus atlantic city.

Baltimore got the wire, and Ray Lewis (bout to be gone)

Atl Crunk club music influenced today’s mainstream rap and Miami Bass has influenced rap more than any type of other club music in America

The Euro club house techno music is taking over now.

^But OUR music is what’s being played in Jersey RIGHT now. Same Jersey niggas at Morgan State, Coppin, Bowie, UMES, and other local schools will all say the same thing.

Philly, Delaware, and even some clubs in DC play our shit. NOBODY calls it Jersey club music. Whatever yall popped off in the early 80’s has came and went. Our music is where all these Europeans is coming to B’more to play live sets. I already posted the articles proving that.

Can you agree that its a cycle of “biting”. As new things emerge in the music each city copies and transforms, like B-more took new jerz music and transformed it into something else Now Jerz has taken elements of B-more club which is more popular now.
