Video: Bishop Lamont Talks Detox Leaks

On Lip Service with A.Yee and L.Rose.

Leah Rose: Liris Crosse: That Crack A Bottle. I’m not feeling it. It’s horrible.
Bishop Lamont: Yeah, I don’t like either.
Angela Yee: Guys, cmon!
Bishop Lamont: Nah, we keep it real. He’s still the boss but I never lie to the nigga.

Crack A Bottle = pure BASURA! Can’t even fathom how anybody would like that.

Not like Prom Queen, which went from didn’t like to tolerate for me (-Dre, can’t speak for nate or es).

    amazing

look – i don’t give a fuck what concepts he uses – shit’s like guns’n’roses with chinese democracy – dre waited too fucking long for me to care. only way i’ll care is if dre wakes tupac up from his cryogenically frozen state, gets a new verse out of him (talking about obama or some shit), cuts a track, and puts it on detox.

other than that fuck i look like caring about some recycled mel man beats and some symphony strings with bishop lamont talking shit over them. i waited 10 years for that? gtfoh.

    Nah’s Advocate….

Nah started out humble. posting regular shit, same old good music from popular rappers, posting the same news headlines. some undeground stuff in between but stayed true to it’s own style

it worked hard as anyone else to get it’s respect, still true to it’s own style and more than any other popular blog, gives unknown MC’s a chance to shine

most DJ’s on Hot 97 and the like barely give up and comers a shot.

a few magazine features later and all of a sudden Nah is garbage? (according to that blog)

Grantred, he’s been bullshitting, making tracks for years. But I garuntee he wasnt nearly as obsessed with dropping a Detox as we were. Dre doesnt make the best beats, per se. But the label “producer”, means alot more than making beats. It’s about shaping whats around you to influence the culture. Which Dre has done to an extent no one else has come close to. NWA, Snoop, Em, 50. That’s impressive.

Some make better beats, but NO ONE has altered hip hop like Andre Young.

Dre wasn’t really the one to make NWA such a huge impact, it was the lyrics of Cube and Eazy mostly that got peoples attention, i’ll give Dre Snoop cause that was his shining star coming up, as for Em and 50, they were already stiring up trouble, if anything thank Iovine for giving them a lane to show it on

Of course not, but i highly doubt jimmy didn’t have a major part in putting those to together

Premo’s production does has perpetual qualities but each one is different and in the 10 years I’ve been listening to Premo I never heard a dud.

    ^^^

you wouldn’t hear what you consider a dud if you put the same 4 bar loop on repeat for most of those 10 years

10 Crack Commandments, great. Nas Is Like, wonderful. a few others in between that are just as great

but nothing absurd about my statement. just like Swizz Beatz has sounded the same since Ruff Ryders fell apart, Premo’s sounded the same since God knows when. this is a fact.

Em was once a legitimately nice MC and worthy of all the praise until he started making the same pop records he came in the game condemning and rapping about sticking gerbils in his ass.

and he admitted in XXL around the time he was promoting D12 World that he purposely made pop singles to get the TRL crowd.

as a former fan I just about dislike him as much as I dislike Kanye’s sell out ass

I personally like Show Me What You Got.Hov didn’t compromise his lyrics. He talked the same shit he always talked on that record.Nas did a 180 on that bullshit he did.I still rode for Nas in the block arguments though even though I knew that was bullshit. As for Em,if I was white I would’ve done the same shit.Fuck a trailer and a 8 Mile Rd.White priviledge is real as it gets.

Nas and Jay made goo songs that despite them being extra radio friendly, they never sacrificed their skills or integrity as MC’s to make them. nor did they ever blatantly admit “I chase radio singles so the young white TRL kids will buy albums in droves” after years of clowning the artists that

Em came out doing “My Name Is,” Guilty Conscience” and “The Way I Am”

he got a pass with “The Real Slim Shady” “Without Me” cuz they were funny

last singles I remember him for are “Smack That,” “Ass Like That” and “Fack.” do I need to post the lyrics to Fack?

Exactly, what B-Ease said. Expectations for this particular album are insane, nothing’s gonna be “good enough” to please the fuccn jackals out here, but then watch: five, six years from now everyone will be calling it a classic album.

he was messing about its not gonna be no fucking 12 songs . use ur heads . hes all hoaxing us again . they are leaking the songs to make it look as if detox is gonna be shit .. even crack a bottle is a hoax too . the songs he did for stat quo are better than anything thats leaked .. he did it like 2 yrs ago .. i think its gonna be 30 songs .. like originally planned

  108. dorian gray Says:

Bishop = black eminem. Seriously, listen to early em and acquaint yourself with the kind of agitation he was attempting then listen to caltroit or nigger noise and tell me they don’t sound damn similar. Em’s white though and it’s easier to market him. Hulking, horny black dudes with lyrics for days are a dime a dozen.

    And btw
    Quik>>>Dre
Quik does all his own shit, is one of the only people with an actual roger troutman co-sign and can spit. Can you werk wit dat?

  109. kedordu@gmail.com Says:

can you work with dat and the fixxers album was 60% AMG and 40% quik .dre creates movements sonically ..1st g funk and then the stripped down style of 2000s that helped to break producers like neptunes ,lil jon, scott storch , kayne west and all the copy cats in the middle .

  110. SC Says:

Shit, i hope detox or relapse doesn’t sound anything like crack a bottle. Though, the Topless joint with nas and t.i. was pretty dope. i bet there’s gonna be a mastered version that comes out with a dr. dre verse instead of t.i.’s.

  111. dorian gray Says:

@kedordu even accepting that album look at ‘why you bullshitin’ ‘dollaz n sense’ ‘hand in hand’ ‘trouble’ etc. The reason I like quik more is because he’s always kept it real, doesn’t pretend he reinvented music and seems accessible. Andre young only really shows up when it’s time to release an album, takes credit when he only does half the work and just has this lofty air that about him that I just dislike. $500 for some headphones nigga? Really?

  112. kedordu@gmail.com Says:

@dorian gray quik is my fav producer ..have all of his stuff . defo a better musician than dre . but quik cant bring out the best in an artist . he cant create something greater from something above average ..in da club , california luv and dj quiks put it on me

  113. clocksuckaz Says:

    haaaahahahah
cant believe eskay spent so much time listening to prom queen that it actually became tolerant.
crack a bottle = mediocre with the worst hook in years. and hopefully years to come

  114. dorian gray Says:

@kedordu. I’ll yield you that. While dope quik hasn’t constructed a transformational sound that has brought out the best in his artists. Dre’s partnerships are legendary, save for that knoc’turnal bullshit. Even though I’m from chicago I ride hard (none) for the west because I feel like they get overlooked too often. I think that it helps to have a perspective on nah that isn’t underground, isn’t mainstream but instead shows respect to heads that have created sustainable careers and stayed true.
