the reason ready to die > reasonable doubt is that Biggie pioneered a flow and a sound on that album

Reasonable Doubt may have better production, and Jay was a master of the art form at that point, but he hadn’t really found his voice yet.

lol you asked someone to dispute it.

–I’d go a song for song on it but i dont have the retail version, i only have the original.

But anyway reasonable doubt has a couple duds and Ready has none.

    Plus Meth > Foxy

  5. *mooko* Says:

ready 2 die was betta cause it was pure emotion…not contrived

cashmere thoughts was the birth of hovs iceberg slim. so as it correlates to ready to die, a lot of my niggas would fast forward ‘unbelieveable’.

Biggie was better than Jay, back in their dayz
    but BIGGIE+LifeADeath > JAY+ReasonableD
if u check only the albums.. without names
Reasonable Doubt > Life After Death

    but nevertheless

  8. eskay Says:

in eskay’s world: Jay > Big

in terms of straight spit: Pun > Big > Jay

in terms of cultural impact: Big >

in terms of songwriting ability Big > Jay > Pun, although I think they were all good at this.

reasonable doubt sounded contrived? wow. do any of you know or have chopped it up w/a respectable hustler or drug dealer from your hood.

  21. Beezy Says:

idk how people can say Jay is “better”…he just has a larger body of work.

Same studio…same beat…16 each…BIG kicks Jays face in lyrically.

Big L assaulted Jay-Z on their little freestyle diddy…friendly of course…but assaulted.

    ==================
No, I’m basing it on the fact that Jay has more GOOD albums. Not saying that you are, but I just don’t see how people can give BIG the GOAT title based on 3 discs worth of material.

  23. anons Says:

ready 2 die was betta cause it was pure emotion…not contrived

    ^^

*marks point on the white board*

thats what i’m saying….Biggie had a very clear, refined sound from the very beginning, it had no predecessors, and that’s what makes him a legend and better than Jay in my eyes

  24. *mooko* Says:

jay can neva be betta than big… jay had the chance 2 study the game and make a calculated move…ie change up his flow…jay didnt hit until he combined big’s and nas’ flows and came up wit da jay-z we knew in 96

  25. *mooko* Says:

reasonable doubt sounded contrived? wow. do any of you know or have chopped it up w/a respectable hustler or drug dealer from your hood

    ^^^

umm …not 2 brag or nuffin but… i’ve done a lil more than chop it up..as u put it… i was actually around in 96 living in ny and runnin the streets… so my perspective is a lil more authentic plus.. drug dealin isn’t the topic here its about who’s flow was betta..jay had the chance 2 see +listen to big and nas..who is the other guy jay loved at the time and thats how he came up wit his flow
