Jean Grae is dope but let’s be real, regardless of the label, was she really gonna blow? She makes Lilith Tour rap. The sun, moon & stars will have to align for a female to ever be as big as a Jay-Z, T.I., or 50 Cent. Is Hip-Hop truly that sexist or are there a buncha mediocre female MC’s?

I wanna smack the curry residue out the corners of Bobby Jindal’s mouth. How the fuck can New Orleans and it’s outskirts afford to turn down stimulus dough? SMH at these republicans that just don’t get it.It’s bad out here.

yeah, she’s not gonna blow, but what does that have to do with whether she’s dope or not? dope MC’s rarely blow, male of female. [ll]

–Its not that hh is sexist, its that whoever is pulling the strings believes that a female mc wont get an ear unless she goes the lil kim route, which there is some truth to that. But lauren hill proves you can go the creative route, becoming batshit crazy seems to be the end result tho.

Kim can still do numbers and put out heat. You can’t front on Lighters Up and Jumpoff. That bid stopped her from having a crazy summer that year.

It doesn’t mean she’s not dope, but there are a bunch of mid-level femcees out there & as dope as Jean is, she’s comfy in that group. It’s past time for there to be a female artist whos music appeals to a wide array of people. Will a guy ever have a female MC as his favorite rapper? Prolly not. Not for a straight guy anyway.

I hear you, but even when Lauryn, arguably the greatest femcee of all-time, was in her prime, I didn’t hear any dudes naming her as their favorite rapper either. but yeah, I don’t know that any female MC will ever again rise to the level Kim and Foxy used to enjoy. especially not without selling snatch. fucked up, but that’s the game. 12. JDS Says:

i think a femcee [preferably Jean] needs to go head up with a male emcee and rip ’em apart. if you get the male hip hop audience to respect you enough i think your career can go pretty much anywhere, ’cause i know plenty of dudes who’ve supported Jean.

its unfortunate that she would have to take that avenue, but if thats what it takes to make your mark then so be it. but as long as you have the N. Manaj’s of the hip hop world with their thick ham wallets on display, its going to be tough, no doubt.

she doesnt have to be a Jay-Z success wise, but she deserves to be thought of on an equal level.
