There’s no reason Lamar Odom shouldn’t be a perennial all-star.SMH at this nigga underachieving.

  3. JDS Says:

Aretha Franklin didnt write “Respect”, and wasnt the first to perform it, so she doesnt have a right to be heated if somebody came out getting praise for singing a song that she [Aretha] made a hit, and is her signature song?

^^^ 1st aretha franklin WAS the first person to perform that song…. and 2nd NO she doesnt have a right to be mad beyonce was asked to sing a song and she did… she never said it was her song or acted like it was…

and also etta james sang AL green’s song “Love and Happieness” that same night, so should Al green be mad at her ??
    ^^^
Respect was originally an Otis Redding song…

but if Etta is on some hypocrite shit then fuck it lol

but i think she had the right to be heated if its a song she made popular, and didnt care for Bey singing the song… especially if she was chillin’ there and could have been commissioned to do it herself.

young guru was being pretty informal in his use of terms here. by publishing i guess he was referring strictly to mechanical royalties and by album he must have meant physical units (including singles). mechanical royalties are based off of the (mechanical) reproduction of physical units. digital sals would of course be a digital, not mechanical, reproduction…wow…still, i can’t imagine that artists like kanye aren’t getting mechanicals on all the units they’re moving through itunes (i imagine them having some legal fiction, like stating that each digital unit shall be counted for the purposes of mechanicals like a physical unit or a fraction thereof). maybe the standard agreement fucks over the average artist, but even that would shock the hell of me. then again, they got folks signing 360 deals so why shouldn’t i expect dudes to sign away a sizable portion of their mechanicals.

    what a clusterfuck.

  14. Dr Flav Says:

No, because Beyonce is a stage hoggin attention whore, who has no respect. She already crossed Aretha and she could have easily bought old girl out. She plays out just about every female she has worked with.

Homie asked, “how do u beat free?”

This is the formula to beat FREE:

    CWF + RtB = $$$$

    translation

Connect With Fans (CwF) + Reason To Buy (RtB) = The Business Model ($$$$)

Remember, everything you do must be; special, unique & add value to the artist fan relationship. Engage your stans & grind it out. Im out here in Silicon Valley with the muthafuckas that are changing the world with thier new technology.

*notice in the video all they talk about is “the label”..not once did they bring up “the fans”

THATS THE PROBLEM…they arent addressing the situation from the right perspective.
