Rick Ross feat. John Legend – Magnificent

rick-ross-ricky-smiley

It should come as no surprise that there’s a Legend on this record.

Rick Ross feat. John Legend – Magnificent (Produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League) (via OS)

Off Deeper Than Rap. “Mafia Music” was just the street single.

  12. Prada Main Says:

Gerald Paddio was a good-looking rookie wing man from UNLV. At 6-7, 205, he could run, fly and shoot — but wasn’t particularly interested in either passing or playing defense.

Just before the 1988-89 CBA season was to begin, the Rockford Lightning held a party at a local bistro that was designed for the season-ticket holders to meet and greet the players. It was a festive occasion, with plentiful alcohol and food. All of the players were smiling, shaking hands and being as friendly as possible.

    Except for Paddio.

He was in a dark corner participating in some light-to-medium smooching with his girlfriend.

I ambled over and suggested that he at least make the rounds of the room since there were so many fans who wanted to say hello.

Imagine my surprise when he said this: “Nah. This league is nowhere, man.”

    What exactly did he mean?

“I’m making like five hundred bucks a week here, right? Hey, man. That’s peanuts compared to what I was paid at UNLV.”

So I let him be, went to the nearest phone, and traded him to the Rochester Flyers — where he averaged 14 points, while his team set a record for going winless on the road.

Eventually, Paddio played three seasons and a total of 129 ineffectual games for Cleveland, Seattle, New York and Washington.

Another case where the wrong coach at the wrong college instilled the wrong attitude in the wrong player. Not even the CBA could get Paddio’s head straight.

I see the vision of the music…beats are craaazy…but the vocals are still atrocious at times. That being said he definitely opened up a new chamber. There’s part vocally that just make me cringe man…I can really only listen to about 4 songs all the way through.

Co-sign and I am still of the thought that he raped CuDi …plus CuDi’s melodies and vocals are way better but we will see when his(cuDi’s) album drops

  25. Martin Margiela Mane Says:

@ rex he could’ve worked with a voice coach more to get his singing game proper, but i think he wanted to get this album off his chest. i still think the voice inflections work. and ur right, he opened up a new chamber – he FUCKING SNAPPED and made an unorthodox classic

Would have been a listenable EP I guess…. I’m still trying to figure out exactly when is it appropriate to play this album… Bad vocals + depressing subject matter? Im good

the downside of 10 mixtapes dropping every day is that something like colin munroe gets nowhere near the shine it deserves. DUDE SANG AND PLAYED MOST OF THE INSTRUMENTS ON THAT SHIT. wow. like who else can say that.

my only qualm is some of the rapping on there is miserably bad. that “so lonely” song is painful (c) seeing pictures of ur friend’s kids and all u can show him is pictures of ur criiiiiiiiiiiiiiibs

yeah…next go around he can pen lyrics, take credit for that and the beats and let his team shine on some of the vocals. Imagine John Legend killing some of those tracks with no autotune…even Cudi would have destroyed some those tracks.

I do give him props because it’s art…and if his albums were on display in a gallery the first three would be masterpieces and then when everybody got to 808’s it would definitely make everybody stop, think, and debate over and over. Some people would love it, others would stare like “what the fuck is THIS”

  36. shanetron Says:

I’m calling shenanigans on this record. I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that he rhymes “boss” “cost” “ross” “lost” somewhere on the record. I bet around the time he says “lost”, you’ll instantly imagine him as Hurley, a guy who randomly hit the lottery, and now is completely fucked.
