Listening to the CDQ…I fuck with it.

I think ya’ll might just need to wait until you hear a CDQ version before making a final decision. I sometimes think you guys just listen to a track for a few seconds and then don’t listen to the rest because it did not take your breath away in those matter of seconds. Just because it is not up there with his previous past classics, does not necessarily mean it is wack. Besides..

^^That’s how I judge CH, Wale, Amanda Diva, mickey Factz, if I hear the first few bars and it sounds like beyonce breath, Im hitting the red x, Im not gon sit there and force feed myself wackcamel burgers…

^thats the only reason I’d say the internet is kinda hurting hip-hop a little bit. back in the day you didn’t have that red X option. now niggas attention span is too short.

when Dead Presidents pt. 1 first started popping, I wasn’t feeling Jay at all. that right there should tell you something.

^LOL…there’s so much new shit out there that I don’t even know what to fuck with…I feel so out of touch but mysteriously on the up and up. That damn nah right…

  9. Casket Face Says:

Naw bro, this shit is getting digusting…High School dropouts rapping wearing Book bags…wtf?

This world “tight and colorful” movement is GAY…mohawks and pink tie-dye chucks and shit.

When has it ever been “cool” to be nerdy? Hip-Hop was birthed from Braggadocio style lyrics and competitive train of thought…
So how is it now “cool” to be a FLAWED 80’s NERD?

I admit that gangsta rap was a little much but it was really being lived and them lyrics reflected the social-economic defunct the ghetto was in..that’s why it’s felt.

But c’mon son I personally know niggas that “put in soldier work” now running around skateboarding and wearing “do the right thing” glasses.

Niggas like pushing 30 trying get on with the hypebeast wave, like sneakers was important to them…But they rapped me to death years ago about how it was all about Timberlands hitting the pavement hard.

Man this shit sick…all I see is the Titantic minutes after crashing into the iceberg and everbody trying to survive in the icy water.

^^Yea plus its soooooooo much music now..all the customers are rappers themselves now..It’s a double edged sword tho, cause back in the days artists like MF, CH wouldnt have stood a chance….not only that but the computer(where most people hear music first) is not the best place to listen to songs…especially new ones.

^What it tells us is that there’s less programming involved because now you have OPTIONS. You’re not subjected to just the radio and 2 video stations. Now if you don’t like it you can just say that, instead of gettin’ brainwashed the same shit you didn’t like initially. Music is about FEELING, not PROGRAMMING.

I don’t like, care, or ever support anything Diplomats related (especially since about ’03/’04). But when I clicked Skull Gangs “Aggy”, and listened to it I liked it INSTANTLY. None of that, “let me play it a few times”, or “maybe it will grow on me.” Letting something “grow on you” is just a euphemism for conformity.

^^^I meant as far as visibility goes, up until a few years ago there really wasnt any platform for these rappers to stand on, everyone was on that gangster shit, rappers like Wale and MF 10 yrs ago they would have to go to video music box at 3am to chew incense and rap..the platform for them to succeed wasnt there. The internet leveled the playing field for them tahs all I’m saying..which is good for that genre of hip hop music..but now mostly hurts the rappers signed to majors(dloading ,leaks, etc)

^I agree with this. But its not that it has to grow on you, sometimes the complexity of what is being said cannot be grasped in a few listens. No way in hell can you listen to Lupe’s albums like 3 times and say that you caught on to everything that he is saying or trying to get across. And its not because he codes it in a certain way, but the complexity with which he puts together his rhyme schemes are certain to go above your head sometimes cuz you’re still trying to decipher what he said 8 bars ago, but he’s still dropping gems on you.

that Curtis joint is a perfect example. I heard it, said “this sucks” and kept it moving. then I heard it a couple of other times, in the car, in a bar, etc. and I was like, this shit actually ain’t that bad. and you KNOW that I’m looking for any excuse to rag on or discredit Curtis, but i’ll admit when he makes a good song.

    >>Bullshit. Anything that “grows” on you is something that you DON’T like but continue to support because you want to find the good in it.

negro please. so there’s never been a song that you didn’t like at first but later it grew on you? GTFOH.

^You GTFOH. More than likely it was some wack ass song that got played on the radio over and over again and I ALLOWED myself to get used to it. You can HATE broccoli and eat that shit every other day until eventually you get used to it

All of your senses are connected to your brain and work the same way. Repetition eventually leads to immunity. Act like you knew that already.

I aint gotta make no excuses. It was just wack. Now a post a rebuttal.

^But you’re a Curtis hater so that’s an off-set. I’m indifferent about the dude so it wasn’t that bad of a song to me. Like I said, music is about FEELINGS. Whether you feel some way about the music or the individual it can impair judgment.

I have NO reason to hate Jay because I’ve bought most of his material and he’s still GOAT to me. But he hasn’t done anything recently that I found the least bit interesting and I’m gonna say that. I’m not gonna stan it up and look for some redeemable qualities in something that I don’t like. Period.

Lazy how, if you got the throne what else is there to go after. Who you gonna battle, he already sparred with another nigga that has the title of best rapper alive (nas) so what is there left to do other than fuck around and flaunt that you got the crown in peoples faces.

If anything jay is a victim of his own success, you cant put a bar up that high, niggas will murder you if you do anything less (c) Nas

^Of course. We’ve all come across songs that we’ve heard enough times that made us like it. But then there are some songs that you need to hear several times to grasp and appreciate it.

  98. D. Billz Says:

Jay stans can never just say, “yeah, it’s not all that.” You got through a whole bunch of deductive reasoning to even get them to that point IF they even to decide to admit it.
