  3. Mr. Papagiorgio Says:

hold up, Kanye outsold Chinese Democracy? thats the end of that discussion right there. Yeezy won.

    ^^^
yea, that’s major. . . but fuckin GNR took waaaaaaaaaaay too long to come out with that shit. . . the attention definitely waned a lot!

remember when they closed the VMAs some time ago with a song from chinese democracy, and the buzz was ridiculous?

had it come out then, then that shit woulda moved 2 millie the first week. . . . word to *NYSNC

  4. Boosie Says:

  10. icon (trillbert arenas) Says:

Big Pimpin’ had a simple, but effective hook…

  11. pLUG Says:

Jay-z uses a lot of supplemental hooks plug….where there’s an additional vocalists in the back or foreground while he’s saying something too

I remember hating that song so much for like the first two months…

and then the first time I heard it at a club with a few brews in me it all made sense…that beat is insane

yea, that’s what i’m sayin. . . axl and them waited too long. . . but SMH @ china shuttin anything down that has the word “democracy” in it!

they just cost them a good 5 million in sales over in china, b/c they love GNR over there. . . .

  17. sleep Says:

Jay-z does show me what u got at all his concerts. That song sound better live

yea, that’s what i’m sayin. . . axl and them waited too long

***”Axl and them” is right- none of the original GNR members were included on this project- shit, didn’t they all do a successful side project- Velvet Revolver, or something like that? I think Velvet Revolver is right, though…

Pharrel hook. I think Jay makes dope hooks, but the hooks on most of his big records are either interpolations, written by the producers, or in the case of I just want to Love ya, written by Sparks (he came up with the “gushy stuff” part, Pharrell did the rest of course).

  25. Wavy Shprocketts Says:

still smh that yeezy doesn’t know who colbert is — i’ll bet dollars to donuts this fruit tart go home and watch videos of hisself all night — no poz nunadatshit (c) camel

yea, they had 3 former GNR members. . . . slash, and two other cats.

but SMH at them selling 28 millie of their debut!!! fuck the bullshit, rock is where it’s at. . . and that shit just makes you understand kanye’s stance “stadium music” even more. . . .

Justin any day of the week…..because Just’s style works well with Jay’s live shows, he can hear the instrumentation of the track when he’s laying it down (nope). Kanye gave Jay some crazy beats but performed the track underperform cause the band playing it doesn’t have a lot to work with.

The middle was definetly a little too pop/southern (I liked some of the tracks tho) , but that album ends with straight heat rocks, The Watcher, Murder, Come and Get Me, and NYMP.

^ True that..Vol 3 started out classic material..then it kind of got into the popish souther type ish…which was okay, but then it got better with those joints above. I think that’s why nobody really talks about it. When you think of Vol 3, you automatically think of So Ghetto and those songs when most people think of Big Pimpin (not taking anything away from that track though)

  135. pLUG Says:

Hovi baby could possibly be one of the greatest songs ever made. right up there wit Rakim’ s lyrics of fury and Dont sweat the technique

I’m so far ahead of my time, I’m bout to start another life

How they propose to deal with my perfect present?
When I unwrap “The Gift & the Curse” in one session
Ain’t no livin person can test him
Only two restin in heaven can be mentioned in the same breath as him
Seven straight summers, critics might not admit it
But nobody in rap did it, quite like I did it
If you did it I done it before, you get I had it
Got mad at it and don’t want it no more
And that goes for everything from flippin that raw
Flippin whores, flippin vocal chords, don’t get it twisted
Get it right, did different, did it better, did it nice
Did the impossible then did it twice (get it right)
