Video: Wale – Artistic Integrity Videoshoot

Wale and Rik speak on how they linked up to do this joint from Wale’s Mixtape About Nothing, and the irony about how Rik approached Wale in the first place… Click the jump if you haven’t heard this jawn yet.

Okay, uh, look, if you want to just keep on doing the same old thing, then maybe this idea is not for you. I, for one, am not going to compromise my artistic integrity. And I’ll tell you something else, this is the show and we’re not going to change it.

… Right?

Wale – The Artistic Integrity

What were you thinking? What was going on in your mind? Artistic integrity? Where, where did you come up with that? You’re not artistic and you have no integrity. You know you really need some help. A regular psychiatrist couldn’t even help you.

  12. 911 Says:

if wale make an album similar in content and of the same focus as ‘man’ I’ll buy it.

    LF: I buy quite a few albums a year; I’m a relic.

In comparison to my rar & avi fetish it’s merely icing to my iTunes folder cake. I love hiphop as a culture though, I figure it’s the least I can do.

    Rik > Hype

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Compare Riks top 5 to Hypes top 5 and you will chang your mind about that. He hasn’t been in the game that long to earn that comparison. Point blank Hype changed the way a rap video supposed to look and to this day no one has took it to another level after Hype since.

  35. Marcus X Says:

    @ Marylandkev

Not so…contrarily the Herbie Hancock (first rap music video) piece was dope at that time. So to place Hype Williams on a pedestal according to how long he’s been in the game, please accept an objectionable view. Taking nothing away from Hype without discrediting his stake in the MV genre…Rik Cordero certainly provides an accurate portrayal of innovative visual storytelling…Artistry is Artistry…Everyone has a particular taste in the obvious optical illusions that are place in their sight. Personally, I think Hype had his time to really catapult the cinematography game for minorities but gave up once he got no love from the Belly attempt. Hype will always get his due in the MV game but there’s absolutely talented and reasonable artists out today that will convey the message…just so happens Rik and others like him (myself included) are making our way into the MV based on passion and creative adrenaline.

    Panasonic DVX100B > ARRI (Film)

Do the math…it’s not about the tool, it’s how the tool is used.

  36. h.e.r. Says:

It’s how the tool is used
Touche Marcus, touche.. very nice response. Rik is driven by his instinct, he visualizes something and goes and does it without hesitation.. all respect is due.
