Bangladesh Speaks On “A Millie”

Toshi over at Rhapsody reached out to all of the producers who contributed to Tha Carter III to get the behind the scenes story of the most overhyped anticipated album of the year. Bangladesh, the producer behind this year’s most infectious beat had some interesting comments about the direction Wayne ended up going over the track.

Bangladesh: This girl I produced for, Shanell, got it to him. But I never went to the lab with him. If I had my way, I would like it more. But I wasn’t around, so what he felt, he put on there. I just thought he would make more of a song out of it, honestly. He’s just rapping. If it was going on the mixtape, it’s cool, but not on no album or single. It’s saying, “A milli.” He needs to pop about being a millionaire. He switched it up and tried to make it “ill.” If that was somebody else, it wouldn’t be on the radio. They just f*ck with Wayne regardless. That right there makes me like that sh*t, because it’s against the grain and it’s working. That sh*t’s no format. A n*gg* went in, freestyled, and that sh*t’s all over the radio. And it’s the hottest beat in hip-hop right now. Every time I turn on Rap City, they in the booth rapping to the beat…

The beat is crazy, no doubt, but I’ve been saying that Wayne’s lyrical performance left much to be desired.

In other Dwayne related news, YN pointed out to me earlier that the analysts are already predicting C3 will be the biggest debut yet this year.

Cristal bottles are undoubtedly being uncorked over at Universal Motown today by Sylvia Rhone and company as early one-day returns for the much-ballyhooed new Lil Wayne album on Cash Money, Tha Carter III, find the disc blowing by expectations on track to the biggest debut of the year by far. …..he burned his own bridges with the team he had and ( this isn’t directed at you but anyone who does like to hate on Budden ) it can’t be denied he would be better off if he still had that bridge and could at least get some help from him ….

  12. HAMbone Says:

the only filler track on tha carter III is “Got money” with t-pain and that’s a single…….and before c3 came out, as u all know, wayne put out mad mixtapes with mad filler tracks but also a couple bangers.

why do yall hate on wayne so much….u know damn well that whole album goes hard (pause?) with the exception of maybe one slip-up….but, there aint many albums these days that i can let play all the way thru….in 2008, so far, i can only let RE-UP Gang’s new mixtape and now C3 play all the way thru…other than that, i’m bobbin and weavin thru most of the lp’s i own….and that’s real talk…fuck what u heard, it’s what ur hearin.

  13. BMUSE Says:

and I have agreed with you since day one. Jibberish is hardly anything to get excited about people. Someone should get smart and make a god damn mix tape out of the 10000000 versions of the song.

  14. PHOENIXXX Says:

Yeah Ty you got a point. Joe Budden was Ransom’s only real connect in the game (Clue does nothing for him).

But look at where Budden is at now though. last I heard he was on the radio shittin on his current label Amalgam, and he STILL aint drop Padded Room after pushing it back like twice. now the shit has no release date in sight.

I don’t know. seems like he’d still be in the same position he’s in now even if he stayed cool with Budden.

… yeah but not everyone needs to be a big time star some people do just fine flying under the radar with a nice 10-15 year career someone like Buckshot comes to mind, or even Nas ( on a lesser scale of course ) Nas was definitely and still is bigger than Budden I’m not saying he wasn’t but Nas has never been a big pop star Jay/Big/pac/dre/em/snoop were the bigger stars Nas just kept rapping but whose still out there killing shit the most ?

a friend of mine who died a couple years ago had this aunt whose has this theory that people are just a ball of energy and some people just use up all their energy mad fast thats why they die young, well the same can be said with rappers and their careers, which would you rather have the career like Ja Rule/Dmx/ 50 cent where your one of the biggest stars for a couple years and then you turn into a joke or would you rather be the Buckshot Nas or KRS still making dope music a decade and a half later and ultimately be considered a legend

again I’m not saying Budden has any of that waiting for him I’m just saying sometimes it’s better not to get too big you’ll stay around longer, once you reach a certain amount of success everyone just tears you down, he might never go plat but Budden’s fanbase ain’t going anywhere

.. co-sign and while the refs aren’t killing Boston nearly like they Killed the Lakers in game 2 ( those 2 early made up calls on Kobe sealed the game best believe it, imagine how much easier the comeback would of been if they didn’t have to sit Kobe for 8 minutes in the first half ) they are clearly not helping the Celtics tonight, I still like the Lakers to win this series though it might be going 7 ….

i think we need more rosenburgs………………just a white jewish dude that isnt trying to do much but restore the culture and trying to influence people to get excited about albums that are damn good………..i wish…i fucking hope….more artists start doing the mixtape circuit before they release albums…get all them fillers out of their system and when it is time to drop the album, just put bangers upon bangers on their shit……..and i know, a lot of it has to do with the production and good beats, cuz c1 and c2 didnt have the extensiveness of good production like c3 does, and it gets doo-dooed on by a lot of heads…..i hope to god more artists start making albums like c3……..i hope to god nas new album isnt too damn political and i can bump it in my jeep without feeling like its a campaign rally for obama…..cuz how much do we really care about politics? do we really wanna hear nas speak a bunch of blunted bullshit idealism over hot beats for the rest of his career??? i dont

he isn’t that dumb to fall for that okey doke, jay fucked him over and shelved him before he wouldn’t fall for that trap again and he has supposedly turned down other major offers because he didn’t want to do want Joell or Serius Jones just did and have to force his way out the label, i agree he would love to blow up but I think ( obviously I can only think cause I can’t speak for him ) that he would rather have a 10 – 15 year career and stay relevant even if it means never being seen as the top star, he is smart enough to know what sells doesn’t translate into what makes you a hip-hop legend/icon ….

  37. no more ty big's just call me Kenard Says:

@ Hambone – what you have to realize is the reason why most mixtapes are > than albums are because the mixtapes don’t have to cater to anyone it’s want the rapper wants, not what some suit at the label tells the rapper the fans want, albums have to cater to radio/fanbases and the label mixtapes cater to the rappers

lets just see what he does, regardless of where he is or how much money his project is getting from what label.

thats my point though Nas was always considered one of the best by true rap heads but he was never a big crossover star but look at his comp. from back then whose left still standing making better music than ever ? NAS is, and I think Nas would agree with this and be very happy with it I also think that throughout most of Nas’s career if the devil made him an offer to sell out and be the biggest star for a year or 2 and then he would quickly burn out or he could maintain the course he has he would of stuck with the path he has taken, o and co-sign the greatness of said mixtape

and on top of that, i dont like the cars, rims, bitches, and cash rhyme scheme either…….i think the over-saturatedness of that style definitely makes the black community look materialistic and ignorant but nas aint gonna change that by being blatently political….i mean, im white…i love black people and i dont really know how else to say it……i grew up in a roughneck part of richmond, virginia before moving to a “bubble” of a community right outside pittsburgh and i hated the elitism and the way my peers would throw around the word “nigger” and just be so racist it made me cringe…..i have played ball in gyms where theres 29 black dudes and im the only white guy and they calling me luc longley and shit….and i laugh with it and soak it all in…..i aint gonna say i dont have a racist bone in my whole body cuz we all know we have racist tendencies whether conscious or sub-conscious……but, i dont really like that nas is choosing now to be all political….its just too damn predictable….and yea, its probably cuz im white and i just dont understand (c) south park episode about michael richards……shit, i dont even know where im going with this….i’ll stop.

I was about to write on and on about the guys virtues and why when he rhymes words in sequence it’s the van gogh of music, but fuck it. Your opinion is yours and I won’t waste my time trying to skew it.

HAMbone is gay? its a cot-damn name…..my first name is hamilton…would u rather i use that? ha, nah man…i feel like i spoke too harsh…..i love nas…..and ive followed him since 93….got on illmatic a little late and didnt truly understand it (im only 23) till i was in high school….but, i credit myself for understanding a dude like nas as well as i can…….i have loved some of his interviews where he speaks on oprah and people like that…and how hes glad he has layed low….and when he went through his mother’s passing, i can relate to that as anyone can when someone close to them slowly dies from cancer…..i fucks with nas…hes top 3…………and i will continue to ride for him even when he seemingly turns his back on his white fans who arent racist and respect him…but after all the cds ive bought of his and all the magazines ive copped with interviews of him, i will slowly try to start understanding wheres hes going with all this……but then again, i’ll just say now ill never fully understand and tell yall to refer to the south park episode…”i get it….i dont get it…”

token: “see, now u get it.”

… it’s aboslutely amazing the reffing gets worse not just every year but it seems with every game, however they finally called a moving screen on KG it only took them the entire year to finally call one …..

  104. no more ty big's just call me Kenard Says:

@ hambone – I think this is the Nas he has been trying to be his whole career he is just figuring it all out now, no more of the just cause you don’t understand it don’t mean that he is nice shit, not to go off on another Lost tangent but it is similar to the Lost writers, they always knew how they wanted the story to go but in seasons 2 and 3 they weren’t how how long they would have and the best way to go about it now that they have built the foundation and have an end date in mind they can use what they have laid down and get straight to the point no bullshitting, and while nas still has all the time he wants he is more focused and direct and getting his point across clearer ….

I can relate to nas that way cause i like to think I’m a fairly smart guy and sometimes i’ll think of something thats damn nigh genius but I can’t figure out away to get the genius of the idea to translate to everyone, sometimes I just can’t explain so it makes sense to others who aren’t already on the same wavelength and I think thats what Nas has now learned to do

…. The celtics definitely wanted to steal this, true KG and Pierce played like crap but odom and gasol have be damn near invisible the entire series they are due to have solid to breakout games very soon Kobe will be Kobe and I still expect a big time performance or 2 from Fisher, not to mention at home Vujachic truly is a machine on the road ehh not so much ….

  118. Necole Bitchie.com || Been B*tchin’ Since The 80’s: Bangladesh Speaks On A Milli Says:

[…] Yesterday I posted all the artists (that I knew of) that jumped on the Lil Wayne “A Milli” beat produced by Atlanta Based producer Bangladesh. Here’s what he had to say about getting the track to Lil Wayne. Evidently he expected Lil Wayne to come a little harder on the record but it popped anyway and now it’s the hottest beat out this summer. This girl I produced for, Shanell, got it to him. Every time I turn on Rap City, they in the booth rapping to the beat… – Nahright via Rhapsody […]
