I dont know Ease Nas verse on John Blaze was kinda tough, i think im gonna have to go back to the video tape…

    ^^^
Honestly, I aint heard the track in at least 3 years, but I remember a murder. The song dropped right at the peak of Takeover madness, so me thinking Jada murdered him could very well have been a subconcious bias. But Kiss went off. No question.

    ======
what do you mean by Takeover madness? As in Jay’s Takeover? Cuz John Blaze came out in 98′. Takeover came out like 3 years later.

    So…?

I dont understand why everyone cares if Wayne thinks he’s the best.
Its always baffled me. I simply just dont get it

Why shouldnt he think he’s the best & promote himself as such?

Like I said before, I thought this was Hip-Hop.

Shan said he was the best when he was rollin with Kane AND G Rap…Both of them were better than him…

Run never got upset when LL said he was the greatest ever on his FIRST ALBUM.

I just dont get why it ruffles people’s feathers. He’s a MC that said he’s the greatest alive. So what. Or should he go out his way to say he’s NOT the greatest?

Everyone only cares because alot of people agree with him

Co-sign. It’s a little lenghthy, but I’m running threw my mental database and can’t think of a song on there that falls into the category of “wack” or even “weak”. After hearing “Yeah Baby” tho, I think its pretty clear he used up most of his good rhymes on this joint. Endangered Species was a lot better than a compilation of guest appearances had any right to be.

RIGZ…seriously…what ever happened to being modest and humble?

Arrogance and Bravado can only go so far then it gets a little annoying…

With Lil Wayne it’s almost like false advertisement…He’s yelling and giggling out “I’m the Best Rapper Alive”

Yet, we don’t see the proof in his lyrics, which is filled with mumbling and incoherent jargon.

  40. icon (trillbert arenas) Says:

@ Rigz…the truth is, and I’m being honest here, that a lot of us have a decidedly east coast bias, and we can’t stand some giggling and annoying (c) Hootie, bama claiming the title, especially since we rap snobs have had it narrowed down to Jay and Nas for pretty much the past decade, lol…we still bristle when Pac’s name gets brought into the converstation, and he’s deservedly a legend….

i think it bothers people that Wayne claims he’s the greatest cuz he rarely backs it up. Most incosistent rapper alive? All day, every day! Best rapper alive? No. Once he proves himself, thats cool. Until then he needs to lean off the lean and focus on making good songs consistently.

***Nope…plus, it still holds up to this day, and the soundtrack is a classic, too….”Juice” and “Boyz in the Hood” are still dope, though, but they feel dated, whereas Menace is timeless….too bad the Hughes Bros fell the fuck off the face of the earth…

Not really, Menace has the most re-quotable lines, the most preachy story, and the most unintentional comedy. Its one of my favorite flicks, but sometimes I’m not sure if I’m watching it cuz its good, or if I’m watching it to hear Chauncey tell the white dude, “I don’t give a fuck what I said!” Dead Presidents and Do the Right Thing are much better “urban” films if you’re on that snob shit. .

    ^ Troof.

Sad though it is, as a card-carrying Chris Wallace stan, I can’t listen to Pac’s music. I never heard the Makavelli album, and only checked for the singles from All Eyez. As a dude who values his record collection over and above my wedding ring/marriage, the 2Pac-shaped gap in my collection haunts me, but I can’t bring myself to check for it. Like I said… sad.

And my take on the greatest emcee’s is well documented; Kool G, Cool J, KRS, BDK, Ra, Jay, Nas, BIG, Cube and Apache who did ‘Gangsta Bitch’ (jk on that last one)… can you tell that I’m an old head?
