Video: Justice – Stress

Kanye leaked this on his blog the other day, but I’m just getting around to watching it. Not exactly Hip-Hop, but worth a post for the visuals alone. Think the cast of GTA IV on their way to a rave.

jay setting up a trust fund for sean bells kids just put his entire career into perspective and his entire philosophy is on display.

he is not shouting at white people to deal with this problem. he got money now so HE can take care of it. nobody can stop him and nobody has any say over it. the real issue besides the injustice of his death -which can’t ever be truly dealt with – is who will take care of his family. now it can be said that hiphop took care of it. all that money you spent on his albums just went to JUSTICE. from JUST US. that’s REAL POWER

I feel you greenie, but you gotta give credit where it’s due. for example, say what you want about Papoose, but he’s been making songs addressing issues like this since waaay before Sean Bell was killed. Joell and Styles P too.

^ lol…. papoose aka mr “i live on 187 boulevard on murder street and killer -kill-kill cul de sac in crimeville, USA” or however that bloody awful song goes?

but i hear you eskay, and frankly it just happened to be a pap post that i commented on, but it was less a direct response to it being a song by PAP, as much as i feel as ive been inundated with every damn rapper coming out with sings about it lately.

All that other shit concerning Obama aint Rev.Wright’s concern. He reps his church not Obama. Why should he censor himself?

^rigz, what about the fact that the people who are murdering people, oppressing people, etc are using him and the impression that he is anti-american to maintain their power? he understoods this…but wanted get back on obama…that real niggerish point blank

    ^^^^^^^

You should NEVER cater to the ignorance of others by censoring the truth.

    NEVER.

If people wanna chat shit about him being anti-american & blah, blah blah, then use spin for their own gain, thats THEIR perogative.

Thats like saying Huey & Bobby should’ve chilled out, because it make all of us look like violent, gun-wielding vigilantes…

And I dont know about all of this “Get back at Obama” talk. He’s been saying the Government created AIDS in his church for ages. But when he says it on TV it suddenly becomes an act of vengence?

    I dunno about alla that.

This whole situation reminds me of the Jamaican government telling artists to stop denouncing gays & promoting marijuana, because it hurts the country’s image & economy.

    Same shit.

^no its not. and you haven’t really examined the wright controversy. you are thinking like an artist, which i understand. what wright did was not just express his opinion. it was calculated for effect. you are being blind to the other dynamics at play. if he was still preaching in his pulpit it would be one thing. but he did it at a press conference. that’s something entirely different.

It’s not what Wright said, it’s how he said it. What I watched at the National Press Club was the most arrogant, self-serving, narcissistic, pompous display of pride I’ve seen in my life. Dude made no sense. He was making a fool of himself and he knew EXACTLY what he was doing. The Wright issue was dead at the point, but thanks to Gibson and Stephanopoulous and Wright, the situation has legs again. Wright wanted some attention and he got it.

The MSM was waiting for Wright to show his ass and he did. He knew exactly what the hell he was doing

    *jumps off soapbox*

  24. eskay Says:

the bottom line is, Wright needs to shut the fuck up until after Obama is in office. it’s a shame, but that’s the way it has to be. this country is barely ready to elect a black president, and they damn sure ain’t electing nobody who sounds like Ballerina P.

  27. 456 Says:

^as i just explained, wright is being used by the republicans to stay in office. he understands this but wanted the spotlight. so everything he is railing against he is in fact when it comes down to it, aiding and abetting.

^ so whats it mean if they address the topic real quick then go right back to rapping about bitches a drugs? is there any more meaning because they took a few seconds to say something then revert right back to he bullshit & debauchery?

im all for addressing shit– but of you really mean it– do something more than just write a song.

    _______

and what exactly would you have them do ? no shots fired but what are you doing to make sure things like this don’t go unnoticed ? what are you doing to make sure they don’t slip back into the bullshit & debauchery ?

I say no shots fired cause I mean it theres not much you can do about it theres not shit any of us can do to change the system thats been in place since damn nigh the beginning of time, so your writing your thoughts about it on a blog which is probably the most you can do same as all of us, these rapper have more of a voice so they can choose to rap about it but anymore than that and you got them on a much higher pedistal than they really are, your giving them more power than they actually have

if a movie director/producer/writer chooses to make a real movie with a real message and a point behind it does that get scrutinized the same ? or will people take it for what it’s worth ? even if there next movie is more commercial that still helps with the overall message if they can reach more people, sometimes you got to feed into the mainstream to get their attention and get their ear and once you have it then they hear songs or see movies with real meaning and their message gets across, also like Eskay says these rappers are people who consistently rap about topics along these lines, it’s not like DMX, Main-O, Jeezy, or Juvenile rapping about something they never touch on, how do we condemn them for trying to do something positive no matter how insignificant you think the effect of said positiveness can be

  29. blahk duppy Says:

yea he should put the breaks on it, until baracks in office, or until he loses, but if he does lose, Wrights thoughts wont count for shit then.

Newsflash: America & England aint the same fam.

I’m a Londoner. And I rarely travel outside of London unless it business or I’m leaving the country. And I still cant remember what every block in London looks like…

Only reason I know its probably England or at least Europe is the look of the blocks. The film starts on a Council Estate…The ones in France are IDENTICAL to the ones in England. Dizzee filmed a vid in France & we all thought it was East LDN ’til he said otherwise

It may not be London. May be Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool…Or maybe some unknown endz no-one travels too…

Blocks in England (&most of Europe) all look similar. Every state in America is like a different country.

Anyone who doesnt vote for Obama because of something Wright said, didnt really wanna vote for Obama anyway.

    They are their own people.

Obama’s mission is to get in office.

Wright’s mission is to find a bigger platform for his voice / message.

There’s obviously conflict between the two…

But does that mean Wright should give up or halt his mission so Obama can fufill his? Would Obama do that for Wright?

I dont think Wright believes Obama’s mission is more important than his own. I dont think he ever will. But everyone thinks he should. But why should he? What sort of pastor would he be if he did?

in the sixties, kennedy had to use the justice department to force mississippi and alabama and all those cracker states to let black people into schools, allow them to vote etc. the government had to walk the first black students in with guns. The first black students to attend these all white colleges had the power of the PRESIDENCY behind them. that’s why all you college niggas can get your half-educations so you can feed yourselves. 50 years later we still feel the difference everyday.

obama would have to serve the black community because that is his base. without black people’s support he couldnt function as president. our votes count more now.

them same crackers are trying to destroy any chance of anybody stopping them from continuing to murder, steal and destroy everybody that is not them. you are a fuckin asshole for allowing yourself to be used to stop it. that wright cat acted a fuckin fool. this is equivalent to the black people that testified against marcus garvey. obama aint nobody’s savior but he is the best opportunity black people have to improve their status, politically, economically and even spiritually. all this fuckin self hate has got us fucking comfortable in our genocide. sean bell is one of countless, most of who you dont know.

obama is as close as he is to the bully pulpit because of hiphop. if young white people hadnt gotten so accustomed to accepting black leadership in philosophy, style, music, sport, etc. obama would never have ever had a chance at the nomination. this is hiphop’s come up. that’s why the older black generation is trying to stifle it. the sharptons and all them ol timey sixties niggas is feeling a way cause the about to lose money, influence and ego feed to the new niggas. wright is part of a crew. and they just did everything they need to to keep the fuckin status quo. white massa on top. overseer niggas keep control of the field niggas.

Do you really think Wright (or any preacher for that matter) thinks Obama becoming President is a “greater good” than spreading the truth & God’s word???

Really think about that. Because if he did, he wouldnt be much of a preacher…

    Or ask yourself

Is Obama becoming President more important & “good” than the world becoming aware that the government made a concious effort to infect the Black man with AIDS?

    But Like I said before…..

You people want Rev. Wright to shut up for a nigga who white folks like just to be president?….Why should Rev. Wright shut up?….He doesn’t answer to the american people. He answers to a higher power which is higher than the President of the United States…

So He should just compromise his faith and beliefs for a man to occupy a fleshly House painted white. Are some of you guys listening to what you are saying? You want a Preacher to sit and be silent so some other nigga can be president of a country?

Thats some slave shit b’s……It sounds like a lot of you are saying that a black man Sitting in a bureau of a white house is more important than someone preaching some true beliefs or trying to save souls.

^the whole argument is disingenuous. first of all, the bible is a much a means and instrument of control as much as a government is. second, wright, if he was any kind of real CHRISTIAN man of God would have NOT HAD A FUCKIN PRESS CONFERENCE. 74. riyadh Says:

How is this video “brilliant” or “genius”. Its no different from a hiphop vdeio..

infact , its jsut a bunch of black kids breaking stuff up and terrorizng white people.

I guess this stuff is “art” and “genius” when white people do it.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Dude. You’re missing the entire point of the video. It’s an homage to the French cult classic Man Bites Dog. It’s not about black kids fucking shit up. It’s about the media’s fascination with violence, and not just regular violence but “real” violence. The documentarians in Man Bites Dog are obsessed with capturing “real” violence just like the documentarians in this video.

  75. Eastern_Digital Says:

I could easily tell it was shot in France. The Blocks, the way these dudes dress, the mix of blacks and north-africans(maghrebs). The Graffittis. all pretty french nh.

  76. Shyriu Says:

I’m French, and hell yeah it was shot in France, You can recognize Montmartre and some places in Paris. I don’t really like justice, but this video was shot by a member of the KOURTRAJME production, a big team of young great directors.
Actually, they are related to Matthieu Kassovitz, the man who directed “La Haine” (excellent movie in black and white, watch it !!).

  77. LOL Says:

right riyadh cause like, everyone thats dickriding this video has totally seen a no name belgian film.

booty shaking hoes > senseless violence by minorities.

  78. LOL Says:

You tried to put it “in context” to tell me WHY i should enjoy this video.

My point way the VAST majority of the people dickriding this video have not see the no named belgian film of which you speak.

They are because OMGZ ITS JUSITCE AND JUSTICE AS SOOOO C00L!

The fact is this video is boring after the first minute. It is, essentially, a bunch of black kids (with some white ones thrown in the mix as to not look racial) in justice jackets, terrorizing people and breaking shit pointlessly.

In context or out of context, it is boring.

And if this was a video from a mainstream hiphop artist. In context or out of context, all you fags would be saying it’s making black ppl look bad and is a bad influence on the kids.
