Is up. Here’s a snippet:
Some people think you’re oversaturating the market, though. Have you ever thought about that?
Listen. [Leans in, speaking directly into the recorder] Darling, I don’t care what nobody think. Talk to me like you talking to Martin Luther King or Malcolm X. You’re not about to ask him about what he think about what somebody said about him. You ’bout to ask him about his greatness, and his greatness only. I don’t care what nobody think. If I did, you wouldn’t be sitting on my muthafuckin’ million-dollar bus in my 15th year at the same muthafuckin’ company and business. I’m a role model…
The Malcolm and Martin reference was woah after the first 5 or 6 rappers used it, but now it’s just getting kind of tired. It’s still disrespectul enough to raise eyebrows, but it just doesn’t have the same oomph that it used to. I’m thinking that pretty soon, these guys are going to have to start comparing themselves to like the Pope or the Dalai Lama or some shit to get a rise out of anybody. And even then, it would really be all about the delivery:
Wayne with a perfectly straight face: "Well, you know, my crib is kinda like the Vatican and I’ve blessed mad mixtapes, so when you see me you should drop and kiss my ring."
