i was talking to my uncle yesterday hes locked up in Sullivan Correctional Facility…. hes been locked up for the past 11 years and i havent spoke to him on the fone for almost 3 years..and hes done the whole jail tour….so i ask him if hes heard of a rapper named saigon…he said the whole system is rooting for that nigga…i told him that saigon was talking about quitting rap cause of all the bullshit involved…my uncle starts cracking up…my uncle knew about the mobb deep incident and everything….i told him ima put the moral of the story mixtape on tape for him and he said to make like 5 so he can make money sell them for like 40 50 bucks….I was like shit ima send you 10

^Sai’s got a better flow than most MCs. (Check: True Story, Pop Quiz, In A Mess etc.)
Sai’s subject matter is what makes him so ill. THe fact that he can spit positivity without sounding preachy or corny makes him the 2007 Ice Cube..
Plus he’s a funny mu’fucka. Which always helps (check: Sean Price, Cam, Biggie).

My homey got an L and he was in the hole (uh uh) 4 23 hrs a day after a fight, he said when you got the top bunk you can’t let your legs dangle under your bed or its considered disrespect to the bottom bed cat… He said many altercations have came from that amongst prisoners….
I think about that life and the problems I have aint shit compared to that madness.

He lost the battle by picking wack beats to spit on. Streets Disciple is lyrically better than almost any album I can think of. Most of those verses could go toe-2-toe with any ’94 NaS verse. Doesnt mean its a better album than Illmatic.
You cant carry an album with dope lyrics, spitting over wack beats. You can carry an album that has sub-par lyrics with dope beats tho (see: Group Home, Slum Village), as long as they gel with the production.
Yeah, NaS is the best when he’s on his A-game. But I’m talking about making MUSIC. On Illmatic, he LITERALLY had ALL of the illest producers in the game on ONE album. That shit was unheard of. What happened??? He needs to call Serch….

– HHID has plenty of good spittin’ over good production. Once again, it goes under the radar. In no way shape of form am I saying that HHID is perfect or great for that matter, but think about it…. heads were hating on “I AM” because they wanted to compare it to Illmatic which was more boom bap, less commercial, whatever. but look at the absolute GEMS on “i am”.. nas is like, nystate of mind 2, small world, undying love, favor for a favor… and the beats were dope too.
Don’t get me wrong… Nas does pick wack beats.. but I rocks with alot of joints on HHID. M.O.B., Republicans, Hold Down the Block, Still Dreaming, Let There Be Light, carry on tradition.
I do hope he does pick better overall beats.. but i don’t want him to force it on what’s a “banging beat”.. cause as a creator it’s more about the way you blend with the instrumental and how it moves you to write rather than how the beat sounds standalone.

I like the original version a lot.
I don’t like this remix. I mean, it’s a classy nod getting Rae on the remix, and using the CREAM beat works seeing as how the original hook interpolates the Wu classic.. but this isn’t working for me.
I might’ve been better with it, but I’m pretty sick pf people taking beats from the early to mid 90s and putting new shit over them. Murder Inc drove that into the ground. Plus, Swizzy had Jadakiss spit over the CREAM beat (none) at the end of the “It’s Me..” remix.
