you niggas aren’t listening to any wayne so how can you speak on his lyrics?

……stop it how many different times has someone asked me to check out a lil wayne song and i did on here ? like 30-40 times at least….everytime i see a new lil wayne song i check it out to see if i can possible understand why people like him…..i can never ever figure it out, unless of course it’s you don’t actually pay attention to what dude is saying…..now i admit i don’t hear every song, cause i only listen to songs i come across links for but it’s always teh songs people are swearing up and down by….

  10. HHF Says:

^^yeah he had some weak lines, but he got his point across i.e. he was saying something with a flow that is unmatched in hiphop right now. Flow and lyrics are equally important, or else you have someone doing slam poetry over music, no knock on that (Saul Williams is a beast), but how often would you listen to a track where the words dont flow with music?

…i agree you need both but just flow means shit if the words don’t make sense and add up to anything and thats the lil weasel….if you just listen you think ok this shit sounds dope, but if you think about what he is saying and try and dechiper what he is talking bout you don’t have a shot in hell….

heres some generic lil wayne type bars

    i start statik /
    with the automatic /
    crack addict /
no you can have it /
    i spit ma-gic /
    go go gadgets

^^^^you can do this for any rapper, cause ninjs are writing/spitting too many words.
Jay-Z or Nas might have 4.327% lines that dont make sense in their whole catalog while Wayne may have 26.6% -37.2%

Some people give lyrics more weight than flow and thats cool if thats your preference, but thats not hiphop doctrine.
If we going by hiphop doctrine, then Wayne is more hiphop than most of your favs today because ninjs wasnt saying a damn thing in the early 80s and late 70s when hiphop started.

  11. HHF Says:

Ortiz is a beast….check out 125 part 4 if you havent

  12. cklhiphop Says:

Finally, an award show is filming something actually meaningful and enjoyable, instead of meaningless not-funny skits.

  13. eskay Says:

Ty it’s very simple..you don’t want to like wayne, therefore you are unable to make an objective assesment of his music. anybody who truly knows hip-hop should be able to hear the the kid and recognize that he has some kind of skills. I suppose he has a guest verse on virtually every major album to drop this year, from Little Brother to Jay-Z, by accident? rappers you respect see the value in a lil wayne verse, but rapper racism has consumed you to the point where you can’t make an objective decision for yourself.

…and his verse on lb’s wasn’t terrible it was actually decent but you know what big pooh’s verse > lil wayne’s verse……..and this is where you are dead wrong cause some of wayne shit is all right and i like some of it, but big pooh is still nicer, now if people were to try and tell me big pooh was the best rapper alive i would hate big pooh too, but i don’t cause big pooh is just a decent rapper and no one looks at him any other way, lil wayne is a decent rapper where people say he is the best, thats why i hate him, he shouldn’t be in the top 20 let alone considered the best

and motherfucker you sound like 2 x’s trying to tell me why I do or don’t like something , also what the fuck you mean by this ?

” anybody who truly knows hip-hop should be able to hear the the kid and recognize that he has some kind of skills. ”

…so are you trying to say I know nothinng about hip-hop because i don’t think lil wayne is a top 20 rapper ? or are you ignoring the fact that everytime i talk about lil wayne i say the dude has a sick flow and if you don’t pay attention to the words and their meanings the shit sounds dope as fuck, my problem is when you dechiper the words and break down the meanings it’s gibberish and it means abosultely nothing…..so yes i recognize he has some kind of skills……also don’t give me the he has guest spots on everything so he must be hot now, you know thats called commercialism, you’ve been around hip-hop for awhile you should know most popular doesn’t mean the best…………smh….

  35. nation Says:

    >> what the hell is yamp Flo babblin about… what is she speakin? Martian?

    how old are you

  36. Rigz Says:

Man,People STILL shitting on wayne? I understand if u dont like him (thats a matter of opinion), but you cant say he’s wack..I aint gonna lie..Before The Carter(I) I USED TO think wayne was a witty mc that didnt deliver his rhymes right..But since that album hes become a beast with an unrivaled work ethic. No he doesnt use 8 syllable words. Or dive into encyclopedias. Niether did Shan, C.L. Smooth or even Biggie. But THATS what makes him (& them) so ill. He can be a lyricist, witty & make u rewind lines without doin that. Now everyone (even dummies) can find a album that starts with a 100 bar verse (literally), has almost no choruses & is 100% MC shit acceptable. Shiiit, it even went 2XPlat. (listen to Carter II).

    And oh yeah. Comparison:

“My flow is like pasta, take it and eat it; but Im ‘gon need cheese if I’m baking a ziti..”

“Ayo, My raps is like ziti, facing me real TV; crash at high speed, strawberry kiwi”

One of them lines is from the GOAT (in my opinion). The other the best right now (in my opinion). One of them lines is even a hook (*gasp*). Niether hold any real literal weight in relation to the rest of their respective songs.

BUT THEY BOTH SOUND FLY ON THE BEAT.

  37. plug Says:

i got a fresh link to Carter II ty… you need to reconsider. at least listen to the intro to Carter & Carter II. i know Lil Wayne has a tendency to be ass on some tracks, but i mean that’s him fucking with your mind. the fact that he can allow himself to suck on one song and then destroy the next not only elevates his status but makes discussions that much more interesting. it’s too easy to say Jay-Z is the best (because it’s true)… but when people argue about Wayne… his fans have his standout tracks in mind, and the people on the other side are thinking about the toilet/shit comparaisons. i honestly hate Lil Wayne fans for than anything (especially how they talk/translate that onto the internet)… but you only gotta take the positive shit he puts out into consideration…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9ZCLfXp1Es
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il0AeICV5ro

he went from being one of the worst rappers ever, to spitting heat on some albums… that shit got to his head, so he started messing around, but he’d get back to it on the Dedication joints. ever since he’s been doing wack shit that’s surprisingly hype or spitting some crazy verses

  57. Busta Nut Says:

Thats just stupid if he can destroy a song why not try and do it every time? Why would a rapper use a weak verse on purpose, who gains from that no one….

it’s just like the same reason I hate Giant fans, all my friends that are Giants fans think they are the best team in football, they are delusional, th Giants are a decent team and honestly they play in Jersey so I want to root for them, but when all I hear all day is the Giants are the best team in football eli manning is the next peyton the shit naturally cause me to get sick of hearing it and then root against the Giants, because these people are so off point, it’s the same thing with lil wayne, when people used to tell me juve was the best i would get just as mad, and if you were to tell me jay electronica was the best and everyone else started to co-sign it i would naturally build up anger towards him even though dude is crazy nice, he just hasn’t done shit to be worthy of even being in the discussion for the best alive

….why it’s the perfect parallel….ok instead of the Giants substitute random overrated tv show/movie everyone keeps telling you, you HAVE to watch cause it’s the best, now it could be a good show, but it’s nowhere near the best, but the only time you hear about it is from the people always talking about it’s the best and not just that but that your a hater and you don’t know what your talking about if you don’t agree, thats what turns people into a hater……

once you start telling me why i don’t like something i’m naturally gonna hate, because I know why I really don’t like it and no one else can answer why i don’t like something

and i agree with what you said about nas fans but thats exactly what eskay says to me when i say i don’t think lil wayne is the best, I have had the conversation with eskay 20 + times and he still tells me it’s cause I don’t listen or I am just hating, so even if i wasn’t hating before I damn sure am now

Yes, Ortiz had the best verse out of all these ciphers w/ Stat Quo coming in second and Phonte at 3rd. But did someone not inform Joell that this was gonna be on national TV? Nice tee, but the word “BULLSHIT” hasn’t been cleared by the FCC standards commitee as of yet. Hope he enjoyed that blur across his torso.

  93. Paperstacker Says:

    >> ……i mean how do you feel about nas ? when people say nas is the best you and eskay start wilding ( even though it’s a lot of jokes ) you guys still get amped when someone says he is the best, naturally it builds up some anamosity against nas cause you got people trying to tell you he is waaay better than you think he is and again nas > lil wayne

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Co-sign that, but it applies to every rapper to some extent. I mean when you got kids saying Jay Z is the best lyricist of all time or is goat it also builds up the anamosity against dude from fans who see different. Same goes for people who say TI is king of the south. I think it applies to all people who claim their fav. rapper is the “best” and they try to keep shoving their opinion in your face because they want everyone to believe what they believe. Howver to deny weezy his very few stellar verses would be wrong.

^Gtfoh outta here with that bullshit ass rhetoric fam. For real. Ok, we don’t like Lil Wayne. Big deal. I have his sample for Carter III, heard joints from his old albums and mixtapes… and I just don’t fucks with his music. Period. You act like everybody is supposed to suscribe to the same music just because the masses and other artists (ex. Lil Brotha, Jay-Z, etc) like it. And? Niggas is individuals and like what they like. I boast about Loaded Lux, Ruste Juxx, Grafh, Peedi, and other mofos that nobody gives two shits about. But that doesn’t mean your opinion is supposed to change about them just because D. BILLZ says so? Of course not. I got over the fact of him kissin’ his surrogate father, being a grown ass man joining Bloods, and other clowntastic things that he does. I actually sat and OBJECTIVELY listened to his music and I just don’t like it: the bars, metaphors, punches, voice, delivery… none of it. You act like the few opinions AGAINST Wayne on NR make a big difference as if the rest of the world isn’t embracing his music. Good for him. Let him get his shine. But don’t start abusin’ that same lame, “you niggas are rapper racists” line that you spew over and over again. Rich Boy, Cham, Rick Ross, Jeezy, (even though he gets on my got damn nerves), T.I. (with 3 outta 5 good albums under his belt), make better music imo, and they’re all from the South. Hell, I’ll even go as far as sayin’ Jeezy’s first joint is certified on THAT level (remind me to kill myself later). Everybody has their preference.

    and

“Do I think me and Lil Wayne should be in the same sentence? Me? No,” Jay says. “I mean, hopefully one day. He has to accumulate work. Put some classics under his belt.”

and i think thats it no one can ever say any of the lil wayne albums were classic, people hate on papoose cause of the same thing even when he was just spitting 16’s on everyones beats.. he was hot….but rappers aint shit until they make a classic

^^^^^I so agree…sorta, lol. and i’m lovin the exact percentages. I’m more into both, flow and lyrics. A true and worthy hip hop artist can combine both without losing the message..The flow keeps you entertained/into it and the lyrics, are what you’re about. if you got a flow and no lyrics, you aint about shit. Nas, has the lyrics but doesn’t always have the flow and thats why a lot of people don’t feel him.

    “Rappers I monkey flip em
