Daily Headlines 10-30-06

I tend to give 50 a hard time, but that lawsuit was some real bullshit.

Jermaine going to Def Jam?

Capo explains his Jay-Z dis Alarm, Hav and P plan solo joints and Green Lantern hits up the massage parlor in Bangkok. (No John Mark Karr).

The Daily News spoke to Derrick Parker, "The Hip Hop Cop" about the Fabolous/Telfair incident.

Aging rappers face name change

L.A. hip-hop discs are wrapped in gangsta good will

If this is really Bey, I quit rap.

Flav talks about his new album. Keep an eye out for his upcoming single ‘Unga Bunga Bunga’ which will no doubt be a groundbreaking musical experience.

This story about this little girl who got shot in Harlem is awful, but another disheartening detail in the article was the fact that DJ Webstar was signed to a $1.7 million deal.

All Rise For Hip Hop’s National Anthem

Well this is refreshing. An article about violence in music, that barely mentions hip hop.

Bill Cosby is at it again.

  10. D. Billz Says:

That wasn’t even Luke’s fault. The mofo that owned the music tryna get paid umpteen years later on some common said lyrics. The mofos who own the publishing for that song must briz-oke.

Jermaine at DJ? Greeeeeat. Because we need more Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It. Smh.

That Capo diss was straight cheeks. And I’m definitely anticipating that Hav album since he’s been the most consistent as of lately. And I miss those dark, gritty beats. Don’t know if Lmno P is gonna be on his dean.

That Fab/Bassy event was just the clashing of the crews. But I wouldn’t reading the book that the Hip Hop Cop got published.

A big Negro Please for that Aging Faces piece. Oh, and you can blame Jay for that “young” moniker. Monkey see, monkey do.

Damn… mofos in the trees with techs. L.A. niggas are crazy. That’s a good look for puttin’ that type of event together. Glad nobody got bodied.

Bey… you need yo’ ass beat (c) Tony Roberts

Mannnnn, can’t wait for that Flav album. I mean, this is what it’s all about right? 15 years later… whew. Smooth B on the album? What’s fuckin’ with that? *proceeds to fix sarcasm button*

That’s fucked up about that lil’ girl gettin’ shot. And Young B crackin’ jokes was probably taken outta context. Or maybe not. Either way, Webstar and Young B had nothin’ to do with it. They try to make ANYTHING hip hop releated.

If anybody got access to that old ass record, holla at me.

I see MiJac made his way to the murder ballad list. Some of those songs make M.O.P. shit look like fairy tales.

Here we go again with Bill. Listen, I think Bill has every right to say the things that he says, but lets not get it twisted. First of all, if he cared so much about the Black community, why didn’t he say this shit YEARS ago when he had the chance to? Doing this speeches at the end of his career is no different than when Arsenio Hall invited Minister Louis Farrakhan on the show knowing that it was a wrap for him. I read many of the comments on here and agree with what many of you said. I agree that Blacks are still in dire straits across the globe but I believe he coulda went about it in a more diplomatic way. First of all, I had to play devil’s ad, but many of us Blacks who attend college aren’t tryin’ to change the world. We go because the odds aren’t in our favor and we know we need that piece of paper to make more money. And sadly enough, many of us use it to validate our success and status amongst peers. This guy went to Spelman University, of all places, and totally picked Black men apart in front of everyone. Well, how come he didn’t skidaddle his old, grumpy ass over to the Morehouse stage where plenty of Black man are achieving more than minimal success to accomplish their goals? Yeah, because Black women need yet ANOTHER reason why they can’t stand us, right? Or why we have failed as culture and race, right? I’m not makin’ excuses for anyone who chose the life of crime and has landed in jail. Nor do I condone the practice of violence, infidelity, and the destruction of a household with separations and “baby daddies/mommies”. But a lot of us are only playin’ with the hand that was dealt. Just as he has a right to voice his opinion, I have just as much of a right to defend myself. And as Afro-centric as a I am, I really lost interest after that Spelman speech. It’s like he played right into those crackas hands and did exactly as they wanted him to do. It’s nothin’ but the Willy Lynch Syndrome in full effect. People in the hood have just as much influence over our own as those who have been to school and have a degree. People in the hood don’t (in general) look up to college graduates. It’s the mofos on their block who they see everyday are the ones who have the most influence on them. Most Blacks who obtain degree pack their shit and leave the hood anyway. Why do you think there’s gentrification? How come all of the college grads who came from those same blocks didn’t put some money up for an investment and purchase the property? The main reason being because they wanted a way out of their situation just like everybody else. You wanna touch the masses of people in the hood? THEN GIVE YOUR FUCKIN’ SPEECHES IN THE HOOD. You don’t have to be condenscending in your tone either, William. I said all of that to say, it’s now what you say but how you say it. Fuck those podiums and graduation stages, dawg. Those muhfuckas who graduate come from nothin’ and more than likely are attemptin’ to live somewhere in a place where the hood will never see their face again. And since those graduates are the ones you’re trying to get to follow your lead, then you need to lead by example… brotha.

At the end of the day, Blacks will still love you Bill and appreciate all that you did to see that the status quo of our people change…

billz you my dood, thank you for puttin effort into that…im glad to see some people here on the site can talk about real shit and not just hip hop… but you know alot of people are waiting for someone to get up and do something, donate some money bill, set somethin up bill… how bout you, at your keyboard set something up. not everything cost money. and if its for a god/good cause im sure you can raise money. true some of the things he says could be set a lil better but doods old, hes just tryin to saysomething while he still has a chance. maybe his idea is to piss people off. but he should be speakin about educating the mothers and the parents, not only get involved but to continue to educate parents because the parents are a childs first teacher. its gonna take a natioin to raise a nation and bill cosby cant do it, its the regular every day people goin to work, on the block, at the basketball courts, in the nail salon, at the chinese fried chicken beer seafood pizza icea cream shops, that are gonna raise the nation…the problem is people dont like a challenge…and people are to self absorbed to think about others. people like shit easy. they like things handed to them…on top of the fact that theres this thing called life that occurs to everybody and people dont feel like trying to save a nation… the projects worked…the best science project thats ever been put together, and we cant get ourselves out of it….aint that boutta bitch

  42. nick Says:

    >
its gonna take a natioin to raise a nation and bill cosby cant do it, its the regular every day people
    >

all true shit…but it all seems hard and unattainable when the odds are stacked against black ppl to begin with…you cant convince a kid that school is the answer when you get nothin from school for like 15 years and their boys are gettin it in a month…granted there are risks, but how do you convince somebody that its not worth the risk who hasnt experienced the risks, just fast goals?

plus our school system is just fucked, you dont learn useful shit man…thats why im feelin all the stuff bill gates is doin for the school system, makin special high school that teach interesting shit, keeping kids involved and WANTING to be involved, not forced to be involved cause they are scared one day they wont get a job…even at college, i dont feel anymore prepared for the job market/real world than when i came in, my skills are probably a little better and im more well rounded i guess (no practical value), but not fuckin 120g’s worth..shit…you just have to do it to get a piece of paper that says you did it – and to me thats just bullshit motivation

its hard enough to get through high school on that motivation, then you gotta have a shitload of money to go the rest of the way, motivated or not…so tell me why should these young guys want to do the ‘right thing’? so in 18 years and $100,000 later they can get a good job? cmon man, you have to make them want to, not force/scare them into it

  43. D. Billz Says:

QDot and nick… Excellent points yall made. I take every chance I can get to teach a lil’ kid somethin’ when they’re in my proximity. Straight up.

  44. Cut In Front Says:

“In the past, Cosby has criticized some black children for not knowing how to read or write, said some had squandered opportunities the civil rights movement gave them and said whites are unfairly blamed for problems in the black community such as teen pregnancy and high dropout rates.”

Yeah, but not taking responsibility is not only a problem in the black community, it is just as bad for the whites. They complain and blame every fucking thing but themselves.

It is a major problem with modern America. Is it really gonna take another Great Depression or World War before the average American realizes that we aren’t Americans anymore. Seriously, a nation full of whining pussies. I say it all the time, the ghetto kids selling drugs are some of the most American Americans out there. Tough kids just trying to make a dollar servicing needs and goods. Don’t really agree with the brute force mechanic of it, but that only comes into play simply because it is illegal.

We have to stop saying we are the greatest nation and start acting like the greatest nation. Seriously, can you imagine what Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton would have to say about today’s America. They probably would agree that the “necessary and proper” clause was a major fuck up. Probably a good idea, but that seriously needs to be changed to a 66% or 75% majority to pass.

Democracy isn’t good people. You need democracy with a limited constitution. Because in a true democracy, 51% of the populace can order the other 49% to execution. Kinda extreme example, but it does wake people up the fact that democracy isn’t some magic utopian dream word we should all be striving for. A limited constitution is just as, if not more necessary.

When was the last time you heard a politician campaigning for state’s rights?

  45. Goliano Says:

Little Richard never changed his name and look where he’s at…. Er, um, yeah… forget I said that.

  46. nick Says:

not all democracys work…rome/greece/commonwealth of england, all fucked republic governments….thats why ours is still one of the best, all the checks and balances…the fact that we have state and federal governments, all those different areas are *supposed* to keep the others in check…of course there are more than a shitload of problems with our government (healthcare, widening gap between high/low class, BUSH, war on drugs…i could go on), but the fact that its lasted the test of time for so long is something in itself

im gonna say what d billz mentioned in the other article…jefferson and hamilton didnt create this shit with black ppl or anybody but white men in mind…i know you heard about the 3/5s rule. freedom for all..except blacks indians and women…you cant find some more hypocrite shit….

    >>
I say it all the time, the ghetto kids selling drugs are some of the most American Americans out there. Tough kids just trying to make a dollar servicing needs and goods.
