Hype Williams Directing Jay-Z Comeback Video

hype-williams.jpg

I love how Billboard reports this as a legit news item, but still refers to the Jay album as ‘rumored.’ It’s kinda like: well…hypothetically, if Jay was to do a comeback album, Hype would direct the video. Meanwhile you have a quote from Hype saying how much he likes working with Jay. Tomorrow I’m gonna call Def Jam and ask for a comment on this story just for laughs.

(You know, I joke about Jay pushing Hip Hop Is Dead back and doing him, but that’s actually what’s happening isn’t it?)

I know Paul Mooney wrote a bit for Richard Pryor. Does Dave Chappelle write all his own stuff?

nope. his boy neil helps him right.

NEIL HELPED WITH THE CHAPELLE SHOW BUT DAVE WRITES ALL HIS OWN STAND-UP, THE SHOW OBVIOUSLY NEEDS TO HAVE MORE THAN ONE WRITER BUT HIS STAND-UP IS ALL HIM ( AND DEFINETLY NOT NEIL SINCE DAVE SAID HE WOULD RATHER QUIT COMEDY THAN WORK WITH HIM AGAIN )

    That’s what I thought. Thanks.

    Killin me softly vs. Raw?
    —-

Raw. Hands down. I think Raw changed the game. Killin me softly showcased Dave’s talent, but thats about it.

    Its Illmatic vs. The Infamous.

One changed the game, the other showcased talent.

Also…Delirious might be the best stand up movie ever made. Might. It’s a toss up between that and Killing Them Softly. I just saw Delirious again on youtube a few days ago.

  10. 456 Says:

eddie murphy was a superstar when he did raw. dave chapelle could only do a raw now that he is as famous as he is now. if he did a concert movie now you could compare it to raw. killing em softly is like dave’s mixtape. raw is lke eddie’s ready to die/life after death

Kings of Comedy was better than Security

SHIT JUST CEDDY CED AND BERNIE MAC ALONE WERE ABOUT 100 TIMES FUNNIER THAN I MIGHT NEED SECURITY

  16. Aberrant Says:

I like Richard Pryor…I do. I dig Bicentennial Nigger. Not fuck Richard Pryor, because I would definitely put that in the top 2 or 3–but my preference lies with Dave Chappelle. His delivery, nuance, etc. Eddie Murphy’s Delirious is just plain funny.

nope. his boy neil helps him right.

^ Yeah, helped him write the Chappelle Show. I don’t think he helped him write stand-ups. Too many Pro-Black references in Dave’s stand-up for Neil to fit in.

Plug… I Might Need Security is better than Killin’ Me Softly? You must smoke crack and then drink bleach right afterwards.
