Now, is it me, or is Yung Joc completely devoid of musical talent? And yet he has the number 1 Hip Hop single in the country…I sense a pattern here.

Somebody needs to tell me which Duane Reade in Manhattan I need to shop in if I want to run into Halle freakin’ Berry.

What all this Dru Ha ha all about?

What Dru Ha and Duck Down Records is tryitng to do is be a distributor for independent artists kinda like what Koch is doing and what Tommy Boy use to do.

“Kanye doesnt know who he is. first he come out with The College Dropout, that had lines like “2 gats, 1 waist”, and songs like “Get ‘Em High” talking about how much herb he smoke. now he’s on some fruity-ass-designer-purses-hey-pharrell-lets-go-skateboarding-and-change-hip-hop-
into-something-suburban-white-kids-can-relate-to-more-easily-which-also-entails- dumbing-down-our-lyrics-to-the-quality-of-an-average-rap-song. pharrell cant rhyme for shit and im not feeling the beats hes makin lately. Kanye is a hippocrite who needs to make up his mind if he is a white dude from suburbia or a black cat with some real lyrics”

Man, you know better than to go dissing College Dropout with me around. First, “Get ‘Em High” fits in with the “I dropped out college” thing pretty well. Also, if you didn’t think College Dropout wasn’t suburb friendly to begin with, then you need realignment. And really, what is so wrong with that? Do you actually get less enjoyment from the songs just because a white kid does?

  17. D. Billz Says:

Damn, I never been on here this late. Fuckin’ thunderstorm had my internet down so I couldn’t post earlier during halftime like I wanted to (btw, I hate Dallas).

So, no one likes the Skateboard P and Louie Vuitton Don song, huh? Well, I can’t front because I do. The reason being is because I understand the concept they were trying to grasp: the 80’s. The beat gives it away from jump. And being that I’m a super-nostalgic, 80’s pop type of dude I was feelin’ it from jump. I wish I knew the names of those drums they were using back then because I’d like to hear someone re-create that sound. As for the video, it look like it could be a part of the whole Miami Vice movie that’s supposed to be droppin’ (hence, 80’s). The video could’ve definitely been better. The outfits is somethin’ I pretty much expected from these 2. Actually the video could’ve been scrapped and they could’ve did some ill ass 80’s shit, so yeah, it was definitely a shitty attempt. It’s actually a decent summer song. A lot better than hearing, “it’s goin’ dowwwwwn” for the rest of the summer.

‘A mc kicking knowledge over a no bass beat is not what people relate to. ‘ – BugsytheBoss

Nigga I can tell you a young’un. Hip-hop has always been about the lyrics, the message, whatever, its only now that its been comercialised that the beats are more important than the lyrical content, that to me is bullshit. I relate to that minimal Premier beat with Guru kickin knowledge or Biggie droppin that grimy NY shit more than I do an ass rapper like Yung Joke rhyming about fuck all over a chunky beat. Gimme that Premier, simple beat with that NY MC droppin science over an ass rapper with a hot beat anyday. Thats whats fucked up when you got young muthafuckas actually believin that shit.

LP Crooks the poole palace is a dance that we do down here in the A. It originated in this little billiards spot(called the Poole Palace) in Bankhead. If you really want to see it watch this video and they do it all throughout it. If you hate down south music (such as Joc, DFB and etc) you might want to turn your volume down and just watch it.

    Nahright Readers,

To those who think hip-hop should be “shooting, killing and overall frontin actin like u hard” Kill yoself… and it isn’t “timbs, air-force ones, white-tee’s pink chinchillas or even chanclatas” hip-hop is: DJ’ing, MC’ing, Break Dancing, and Graphitti art…when did thet 5th element of hip-hop become Dress Code?

Whats wrong with Ye and P’s song…I’ll agree the video is crap, but lately “Hype Williams” has been producing some crappy videos (ie. Snap you Fingers – Lil John feat. E-40: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5UI4YEUfnU …but then again that song is awful to begin with…Hype should kill himself, mayb it was a pro-bono/charity case)

I think Kanye and Pharell are in the “Top 5” of producers right now…and both are underrated lyricists…Pharell’s verse on Lupe’s “Kick, Push (remix)” was nice…

    “…Identity crises/ They scrunched their faces/ how we both black/ but our kid’s bi-racial” – Skateboard P

This track has a classic “Off The Wall” feel, and technically this isn’t hip-hop, its R&B, or atleast hip-hop soul…Here’s to the two making an album together…that shit would be a…Number 1…Classic…Off The Charts… well u get the picture…

    Stephan C. says,

Yeah back in the Run DMC days. Its a new era and hip hop is not going backwards its growing and becoming a big money making machine.Shit will always be like that. Our parents look at us crazy when we play our music but when they play their music we look at them crazy and so on with your kids.Just a cycle and change which is good for hip hop

  26. Doc Flav Says:

Young Joc is no lyrical wonder admittedly but the song is catchy. The beat actually has interpolation of the Whodini classic “Im a Ho” if you listen to the chimes in the background. I can usually understand a ban off a site, but I think that was a little bogus to try to get at that family’s Isp for some comments. I guess you cant tell folks in power how to use it whether responsibly or irresponsibly so I’ll just state a quote that came to my mind. “Our freedom of speech is freedom or death, we got to fight the powers that be..” PE

do you know what homey was doing? of course you don’t because all the comments were deleted, so how do you know what was appropriate? Why don’t you try running a site with over 10,000 visitors a day and holding down a nine to five and tell me how much you appreciate people wasting your time and posting bullshit in your comment threads?

and for the record, I did not rat the nigga out to his ISP, I gassed him, he fell for it, and ma dukes copped plea.

That said, I get thousands of comments on here a day and I don’t have time to police them all like I wish I could, so if anybody else wants to test me they can get banned real quick.
