Lupe Fiasco – Trials and Tribulations

 lupe.jpg

New fire from Lupe Fiasco. Oh my lord this kid is the truth. I only recently heard parts II and III of his Farenheit 1/15 mixtape series and I almost killed myself for sleeping so long. Anyway this is a track off his upcoming album Food and Liquor.

Lupe Fiasco – Trials and Tribulations

If you’re still sleeping like I was, check out this joint Glory from his mixtape. This is the kind of music they need to be playing on the radio.

  1. Plug industries AKA the Regulator Says:

Lupes nice out of the NY……oops CHI TOWN!

    *pokes fun at NY*

  2. KingML Says:

Hmmm I’ve heard so far mixtape wise from this kid

    Lupe the Jedi
    Lupe Fahrenheit 1st n 15th

album starts with tracks “intro” then “twilight zone” then “the pen and the needlz”. i wonder which part it is, anyone help?

The lupe the jedi is a bunch of freestyles and stuff, its good too. a track with jay over ‘sitting sidewayz’.

i really like this cat tho, up and coming for sure

rookie of the year 06 – lupe

papoose is good but hes got nothing on this kid. lupe has caliber to change the game.

  3. eskay Says:

    >>papoose is good but hes got nothing on this kid.

    well let’s not get crazy.

but Lupe is definitely gonna change the game. you can’t compare those two though King, thats like putting G Rap up against Tribe. they’re both incredible but they’re on different planes altogether.

  4. eskay Says:

    *ignores plug*

  5. Darth Cipher Says:

give me a minute to get these songs… im on a slow ass pc right now

  6. reggaetonslasher Says:

lupes hes alright, but I dont hear passion in his voice, lyrics are tight, but wheres the fiya…

  7. KingML Says:

ah its just cause papoose isnt doing anything new, hes got some clever metaphors and similes but its all about the same thing. i like that faces of death track, but he doesn’t come off believable to me, like the kind of person that took courses on how to storytell.

papoose is good tho not saying he isnt, just rappin bout the same ole thing. lupe is a fresh breath of air and id rather see hiphop go that way, and lupe is one of the first cats to have that kind of hiphop goal in mind with the mainstream behind him. so it will be exciting to see what happens.

on another note, best album so far this year IMO is Chino XL – Poison Pen.

I have never been so impressed with an emcee. He had me pulling out dictionaries and looking up phrases for the first time since G Rap. Now that you reminded me of G.

  8. Big E Says:

    Damnit Eskay! I hate rapidshare!

Can you try something different? Rapidshare and megaupload never work for me and I need some new lupe!

    my veins is itchin’ man!

  9. Darth Cipher Says:

@ reggaeton… how can you say you dont feel the fiya in his tone, dudes flow is sick and his lyrics are critical, thats the fiya, just cause he aint yelling like busta or making crazy adlibs lol(What!!!)… what kinda fiya you looking for

  10. Darth Cipher Says:

man im for sure buying this album, not too many albums im willing to buy these days but this is one of them, i havent been so excited for an album since “Be”

  11. eskay Says:

    Big E, try this: http://www.f-forge.com/?d=QOWRYTfurmZ15i8GIjNy

I’m gonna start using this site, they’re that file upload crack

  12. Darth Cipher Says:

“i had to turn into guns like megatron”… wicked haha

  13. MaddenMaster Says:

    He’s good for hip hop…

  14. KingML Says:

you wanna hear some lupe fiya?

Lupe Fiasco – Lupe Jedi4 – Lu Myself

He rhymes over Eminem – Lose Yourself.

Beat is chopped a bit dif, but its dope. he rips it.

  15. Darth Cipher Says:

man chicago’s got some fiya these days… and most them niggas fuck with east coast :D… i had too

  16. e dubbs Says:

he’s dope.. who did his production? i have the album in my car… it said “webrip” dont know what that means.. i can up it if yall want it but its all over boxden anyway.

  17. Big E Says:

^^Good lookin eskay. Downloadin as we speak.

  18. MadeInMilwaukee Says:

I’ll co-sign King. I think he about a step ahead of Pap. Listening to him reminded me of listens to Jay in 96′. Dude headed for greatness.

  19. Darth Cipher Says:

yeah no doubt… lupe that fresh voice we been missing in hiphop, the ray of light in a mist of doubt… bings a tear to my eye to think greatness shall be born out of this and we can all appreciate it together as a family… *in drunk slobbish kinda voice* i love you guys man, your all like brothers to me, even when i wonna kill you, i just wonna let you know your cool man…

    *passes out*

  20. Big E Says:

    Lol @ Cipher

  21. DCENT1 Says:

I HAVE SOME BOOTLEGGED LUPE MIXTAPE AND I PEEPED THIS CAT AT AT THE SXSW MUSIC FESTIVAL HERE IN AUSTIN. KID IS CRAZY NICE.

I HEARD HE USED TO BRING KANYE WITH HIM WHEN HE WAS SHOPPING FOR DEALS (BEFORE THE ROC SIGNED K WEST). NOW HE’S K’S ARTIST, BUT WAAAAAY NICER.

THAT PINS AND NEEDLEZ JOINT IS CRAZY. I COULDN’ T BELIEVE YOU WEREN’T FEELING THE KICK PUSH JOINT. STORYTELLING IS NICE, BUT I UNDERSTAND HOW SOME WEREN’T FEELING THE SUBJECT MATTER.

YOU’RE RIGHT. PAP AND HIM AREN’T COMPARABLE, BUT I STILL PREFER LUPE. HE’S NOT YOUR TYPICAL NY BATTLE CAT AND HE’S FAR MORE ENTERTAINING.

“HAT TILTED, BRIM LOW, WITH THE CARTIER EYE AND THE CAR GOES BY LIKE VROOOOOOOOOOOOM……” THAT’S MY SHIT.

    NICE SITE BY THE WAY.

  22. wireless giant Says:

not to be funny but who is this guy, does anyone have any sites so i can hear this cat!

  23. D. Billz Says:

All I know is that I owe Ty Biggs and Eskay a big, I-TOLD-YOU-SO!

(Btw, my comp won’t let me download from the new upload site you’re using [damn virus protection]. Think you can bring that Rapidshare back, homie?)

@ DCENT… he actually isn’t Kanye’s artist, but you’re right about him shoppin’ deals with Kanye. He’s the president of his company 1st and 15th. And they actually got nominated for a Grammy for a song they wrote for Beyonce.

“Kick, Push” = Classic (a Black guy rappin’ about skateboarding? I only know one other to do that, which leads me to my next joint…)

“…And He Gets the Girl” = produced by Pharrell using a rock beat. Anybody who ever had cold feet before they approached a bangin’ chick can relate to this.

“Theif’s Theme Freestyle” = MURDA! these nigga rambles about products beefin’, on some shit like Q-Tip on Mobb Deep’s “Infamous” album, but way iller.

Put it like this… with the commercial support (skateboarders, backpackers, radio) and the street support (mixtapes, freestyles, etc.), if Lupe don’t go platinum I’m seriously considering banning hip hop for a long time… seriously.

  24. D. Billz Says:

    Datpiff.com @ wireless giant

  25. D. Billz Says:

And to piggyback off what I just said, just so the dum-dums know (i.e. The Stan Clan), IT’S NOT ABOUT THE SALES! I’m just stating that with all the buzz surrounding this kid, I believe he can do it. But if not, I’m still gonna support the niggas (and chicks *ahem* Jean Grae) who deserves my dolla… period.

  26. Odin Says:

dude u guyz shood definitely check out

lupe fiasco – no place to go

    ^—sick track

  27. TYRONEBIGGUMS Says:

alright i cant download any of these with this file forge shit anyone got any other way to upload this shit

  28. GET Says:

Props But his Whole Album leaked He spoke about it

    “So My Album Got Leaked….

hey sh*t happens….an unmixed version of Food & Liquor got leaked yesterday….so i assume its on limewire and bittorrent and all that sh*t…its stuff like this that makes you wanna just be like fu*k it…lotta time and money and bullsh*t went into creating that album…over the years I’ve had my people die, get locked up, my company get shut down, weak ass niggas in my own crew turn against me and just when things are starting to look good…for example yesterday Kick, Push debuted on TRL…I dont know if ya’ll knew that…I was watching it in a studio in Philly as I was waiting on Jill Scott to come perform on my album…it was beautiful man!…Jill laid some amazing vocals…crazy…also learned my album was dropping simultaneously in the UK cuz the buzz was so strong…sh*t dont happen like that…so to be riding on that high and not 4 hours later learn that everything i worked for just got leaked all over the internet kinda had me fu*ked up…niggas at the label scrambling but its futile…the album might get pushed backed…niggas really dont know now…but hey what can u do fughettaboutit…if u can find it…it is my gift to you…Enjoy!…no hard feelings…take it as Fahrenheit 1/15 Part 6: Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor….hahaha…minus jay-z, Pharrell, Jill Scott, 3-6 Mafia and others…by the way Kanye is not on the album rapping or production wise…all records are by Pro, Soundtrakk, Needlz, Mike Shinoda & The Buchanans…so everything happens for a reason and God wills what He wills when He wills so i gotta take this one and keep it moving…I’m goin to take some time out and refocus on some other things for a minute…maybe my sneaker and toy stuff…eventually Godwilling get back in the stu and get back to work…i hope it doesnt hit the streets as a bootleg…but I got this real deep feeling that it will so I’m writing off Food & Liquor as you know it or may have heard it and starting over…thanx for the support & the love…stay tuned…FNF UP!!!”

  29. Big E Says:

^^^^Just turn your virus protection off biggums. That should work.

  30. TYRONEBIGGUMS Says:

^^^ if i had the slighest idea how to i would. good looks on the tip BIG E but goddamn if im not as computer illiterate as they come

  31. Big E Says:

what kind of browser are you using Bigs?

  32. TYRONEBIGGUMS Says:

browers??? see im computer illiterate as they come. it goes to a screen that says file name : and then is blank with a browse button next to it and then it says upload. ill select i tunes ( like i do with the rapidshare shit ) but it says no file selected i dont know how to tell it what i want selected i tried to copy and paste the link as the file name but no go

  33. D. Billz Says:

They leaked Lupe? Dammmmn homie. Btw, good lookin’ out on the post @ GET. It seems dude is real fucked up over that. I hope this doesn’t effect the original release. I’m still gonna go cop the REAL shit, fuck it.

  34. MadeInMilwaukee Says:

    Thats why I buy albums

  35. Big E Says:

    @ Bigs-Follow these steps:

    -Click on the link

-Wait for the download to start (takes 8 seconds)

-When the file download thing pops up just select the file name.

-If the file download thing doesn’t come up, turn off virus protection and popup blockers.

I suggest using Internet Explorer. There’s a virus protection bar on the top of the browser (screen). All you have to do is click on it and press “turn off virus protection”.

  36. BK2LV Says:

eskay I know u dont like to do this much, but im in Vegas and cant get much underground shit….. so can you upload the 2 mixtapes that Lupe put out…….. would be much apreciated my dude…..

    Thanks

  37. the green eyed bandit Says:

file forge aint workin for me. do I need something to get it to work?
    my pc is fire

  38. Big E Says:

^^^Just use Internet Explorer and follow my steps green eyed bandit. It should work.

  39. Darth Cipher Says:

they leaked an imcomplete version, so its no bigt loss too him… like he said people arent on the one that got leaked, and even so he’s still worth my dollar…

D.billz i second that jean grae plug, girls got some serious lyrics, i think shes the hottest female rapper next to lauryn hill(lauryns a triple threat, acting, rapping and singing, dont fuck with her) as for jean shes got the lyrics and thats what kills, i havent heard her sing though, but regardless shes worth my dollar, her and talib should make a serious album together… now that would be worth my motherfucking dollar

  40. OneTwo Says:

    @BK2LV:

Lupe uploaded the mixtapes for free download through his myspace page a while back. d/l them right here.

    http://homepage.mac.com/WebObjects/FileSharing.woa/wa/default?user=carreralu&templatefn=FileSharing3.html&xmlfn=TKDocument.3.xml&sitefn=RootSite.xml&aff=consumer&cty=US&lang=en

  41. mindstate Says:

lupe is HOTT, I here music in those songs, not the regular thug shit, papoose is wack, cant even be compared to this KID, NOW I GOT SOMETHIN TO CHECK FOR,as rap dies slowly from all the bullshit this guy will help big time,he sounds in the likes of common and de la gonna get the mixtapes now!!thats MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. wireless giant Says:

    @ d billz

    good look!

  43. the green eyed bandit Says:

i got it rollin now. thanks for the instructions big e

hope noone is talkin over the song so I can play it at the club

  44. 813 Says:

papoose is 10+ mixtapes deep, and his last couple mixtapes have been album-like (if its not obvious im a big pap fan). lupe got that fire as well. however, stop fuckin bein ignorant and comparin pap and lupe! its like fuckin apples and oranges, they are both hot in their own right. however, theyre not similar enough to be compared. Common did a song wit TI, and they are both good in their own right, but u dont see them two bein compared to each other do u??

  45. Demiks Says:

es, I slept on this kid way longer then you have. I find that Lupe has more substance (and way more lyrical) then Kanye. Kanye is overhyped and overated imo. ‘Ye sounds commercial, I don’t know who labeled him as a concious MC.

I didn’t know about him until I saw his picture in the Jan/Feb XXL in Show & Prove (yes, the one with G-Unit on the cover). All I saw was glasses and a skateboard. Plus I was never really put on to concious rap and a co-sign from Kanye may be nice, but it means nothing to me. But the internet was praising him heavily so I just listened.

  46. eskay Says:

    I co-sign everything 813 said.

That message from Lupe is crazy. I was thinking damn this kids album leaked way before it was supposed to hit stores, what is he gonna do…that sucks.

…so I guess I can post the whole thing now huh…I’m not gonna though…well maybe, we’ll see.

  47. Dude_Nelson Says:

    Chitown what!

  48. tyronebiggums Says:

good looks big e ill have to check for that shit tomorrow I’m on the treo in jersey city right now ready to hit the club

  49. Doc Flav Says:

I Know I Could Say Lupe: Dope, Fire, Hot Or Things Like That, But The Only Word That I Think Fits Is… FRESH (yes Ol School) As Hell!

  50. BK2LV Says:

    @ OneTwo

    good looks on the post……….

    @ eskay

That would be popping if you let that out but I understand if you dont….
on the other hand sometimes leaking stuff creats a huge buzz and i have a feeling this will do that for LUPE………. oh yeah and i am a huge pap fan and cant really understand why people are trying to hate on one and like the other Why cant more than one person be on the come up….. we need to stop the bullshit putting rappers against eachother thats why hiphop is in the state it is….. nobody helping eachother get to the top

    one

  51. KingML Says:

well speaking for only myself i dont personally hate pap i just think his content is tired, nothing new.

just cause you say something differently doesnt change the message. its the new message that lupe brings that im glad to be hearing , a message of positivity and do your OWN thing.

whereas papoose is essentialy doing what everyone else is doing, just a little bit better in some cases, but in the end the message is the same.

If you think music is about how you say something instead of why you’re saying it, then you should be happy with the same message. If you think music is about what you’re saying, then you’ll always expect more from artists in terms of original content to constantly keep you exploring important and powerful aspects and perspectives that people have and share through their music.

  52. Lili Says:

And they actually got nominated for a Grammy for a song they wrote for Beyonce.

^^^^D.Billz, what song did they write for her?

    ————————–

All I can say is fnf up! Check that radio show yall.

  53. mindstate Says:

813, if you can stomach papoose for 10 mixtapes, thats amazing in its self, he sayin BLA,BLA,BLA,BLA,OVER AND OVER.Like i said he aint sayin nothing, he doesnt stand out in a crowd ,this kid has content, listen to the mixtapes after downloading it, his freestyles were hot, check for his track SWITCH and see how easy it is for lupe to SOUND like other rappers.
PAPOOSE got that crack, crack, crack, crack.call me a hater but CLONES BY THE ROOTS came out in 96,and thats all hip hop has mostly now.CLONES!!!!listen to joe buddens hes a good rapper!!!

  54. doc holiday Says:

im gonna have to check this dude…i was sleepin…if i like kanye and yall think lupe fiasco is better, then imma have to get some mixtapes.

  55. HAM Says:

whaddup …signin in via satellite at an undisclosed location beneath an abandoned greyhound bus station …

    big ups eskay …

i been readin tha site for a while on tha weekends at work…

    Regarding TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS….
..lupe is aaite, he’s a tight newcomer & ev’thang…. i was listening and thought ..daym i heard fabolous ..my bad F A B O …you know how he spells ev’thing… anyway, i could hear fabolous flowing on that track and it would be nice too…i’mma hafta keep an ear out

with GLORY… it’s tight to def ..but overlaying and underlying factor….tha tracks are so tight they’re TITE

  56. uneckbone Says:

mindstate, its obvious you’ve never listened to any papoose song if you think he’s saying the same shit over and over. there’s something called versatility that very few artists has and papoose is one of them. do yourself a favor and get one of last 3 mixtapes

  57. uneckbone Says:

es, man i’m trying. trying real hard to feel lupe, but i don’t think i can. i got all 3 farenheit mixtapes and i started listening to 2 like you mentioned, sounds like a bunch of kanye blabber. what was the song that made you realize he was more than the average? On MM2 i got instant gratification.

  58. uneckbone Says:

“handcuffs” might’ve finally earned the respect everyone else is demanding i have for him.

  59. D. Billz Says:

@ Lili… I can’t confirm which song. I know it was mentioned in the Fader mag, but I can’t remember. If I run across it again I’ll let you know.

    FNF Up!

    Bang-A-Rang Gang! ’06

  60. mindstate Says:

if u make a million and one mixtapes and cant get a deal until u get help ???lets see u must be an average rapper(PAPOOSE) stay on busta,s nuts cause he is lame,no major deal huh!!!I USED TO LOVE HER!!

  61. D. Billz Says:

“don’t need a studio, i walk around with the pro tools” — Pap

  62. uneckbone Says:

mindstate, you gotta be a proffessional stan. because he was shopping a deal and didn’t wanna get beat for all of his publishing like other idiot rappers, that makes him wack? because he provided 10 mixtapes that were all fire and created a buzz that hasn’t truly been seen in the mixtape circa since (i hate to say it) 35 cent. now i’m not a huge busta fan, but i got plenty of respect for him. whether or not busta will fuck it up for him i don’t know. what i do know, is that he got a signing BONUS, not an advance. and he’s under interscope/aftermath/flipmode, with plenty of access to alot of commercial resources. if you don’t feel him fine, but don’t compare his label situation to his talent. asshole.

  63. uneckbone Says:

” i’m a son of a gun, so if i’m comin, my pops comin with me” – pap

  64. Demiks Says:

    Papoose is no average rapper.

“Lookin where?/ I’m over here like dandruff/” -Pap

Sometimes he pronounces too many damn words phoenitically(sp?), but other then that, he IS versatile. Like eskay was pointing out in that Saigon post awhile back. Pap can do things like rap from a dead rappers perspective (see; “You Can’t Murder Me,” from A Bootleggers Nightmare not the one from A Moment of Silence). And he made a damn song about being a Hip-Hop cop (see; Sharades). And if your discriminating him by his voice, why? One of the most annoying voices I ever heard was Canibus’, but he can rap like crazy.

  65. mindstate Says:

get off papoose dick a hot rapper who had to sign to flipmode and kay slay???HMMM NOT DEF JAM,COLUMBIA,ATLANTIC, AND ALL THE OTHER MAJORS and little of info your label determines your career if your hot you get a good LABEL.ALBUM GONNA BE weak, only new york niggas goona COP. 50 GOT SHADY,NAS GOT DEF JAM,THE GAMES GOT AFTERMATH, YOUNG JEEZY AT DEF JAM.nobody even here of some people who got major deals at top labels, but ya pap is da man but he cant get a mjor deal, BULLSHIT!! publishing has nothing to do wit it nigga state da facts man!Sometimes its best not to believe yourself,go with the facts,
AND HE IS UNDER FLIPMODE,aftermath and interscope pimps the money if he sells nigga,so busta signed him not the doc,but if he sells dre gets paid!!! those are the facts!!SILLY ASSHOLE

  66. mindstate Says:

are those the best lines yall can post from that dude thats hot son
    thats just so hott,
this shit is too easy and so much fun pissin you guys off have something better to say if you respond, cause right now your case is a little weak the truth speaks for itself!!!!

  67. uneckbone Says:

pissin me off nigga? i got respect for dude and am trying to put a young’n like you on. yes, label determines production and distribution of an album and in turn can determine its success. BUT, you are saying pap sucks because he isn’t on a major label, as if that determines how talented he is. and i personally heard him on shade 45 saying the reasons he was holding out. not to say everything to come out his mouth is true, but people are getting raped out there. juelz had a big label behind him and he put out a great fucking album, FOR Z100. your label plays a part in how big your commercial success will be and i’m happy that he’s got busta’s resources behind him. you forget how respected busta is by the hiphop. the game had to spit for busta to get signed. papoose has a very strong following and to compare his deal, which is included a BONUS not ADVANCE, to his talent is like like comparing sales to talent. your like that guy so was saying that britney spears is the shit because she’s multi plat, GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!

  68. eskay Says:

mindstate you have no idea what your talking about son. First of all the deal Pap entered into with Flipmode is not a record deal, as of right now Pap is sitll unsigned.

And anyway, why the fuck are you worried about that mans deal? what does it have to do with you? so according to your logic, if you don’t have a major deal, you’re not a good rapper? get the fuck outta here with that childish shit and come back when you know someting about hip hop

  69. uneckbone Says:

on another note, the second and third mixtapes in that farenheit shit have definitly made me realize the talent lupe has.

*looking for album to see if its actually worth supporting*

  70. mindstate Says:

just look at young jeezy,j signed him because he had potential,ya boy must not have any,all rappers get raped on their first album, and no im not a young n, i understand politics,u just dont jump on a nigga nuts beacuse of what everybody else says you see for yourself. I listen to de la,common, black eye peas, all types of shit. just consider ya boy is fucked mixtape niggas dont buy albums, and most mixtapers cant make good albums, dont care about the label. This nigga wont have any longevity, lupe on the other hand has skill which is what gets you signed and thats facts nigga give a person who listens to REAL MUSIC like execs they hear skills and talent not whos so called HOT. thats why just blaze wants to bring hip hop back to new york, because talents lackin. Em had talent which is why dre signed him, papoose sucks cause he sound like a million niggas from new york, hes not a pun, guru, hes only papoose and the people will tell all, thats why a white boy is one of the hottest things out, SKILLS,SKILLS, not crack, crack, crack, thats why he is wack, wack, wack, if you cant feel lupes mixtapes u r a busta, you need hip hop lessons if you think hes hot, go pickup some GANGSTARR, THE ROOTS,DE LA,JIGGA,NAS,BIG L, GHOST,PUN SOMEBODY, thats why rap is the way it is now silly people buyin shit like papoose and not lupe. ITS HURTIN THE HIP HOP WORLD. TAKE YA LESSONS THEN RESPOND. ITS ALL ABOUT SKILL AND LONGEVITY,LIK OFF MY JOCK DEM DIC RYDA’S

  71. uneckbone Says:

you listen to black eyed peas, enough said. young’n, once again, you are comparing his business to his talent. this isn’t cnbc, this is nah right. here, talent matters, not sales. and if you think mixtapes don’t sell, you don’t live in ny. in fact, i know you don’t with your ny hating subliminals. your just a stan, trying to gain respect by saying you listen to big l and roots and shit yet you still have thame in the same category as black eyed peas. you really are a moron.

  72. mindstate Says:

see thats the problem music is more than hardcore shit expand ya mind, i know about big l and blackstar and all that shit because thats good music, the boggiemonsters, black on both sides thats all the shit i hear and now lupe i know mixtapes sell beacuse i sell em,see!Pharoah munch, thats my domain, all boot camp, see niggas are silly u compare the black eye peas to cnbc because the dont slap a bitch, kill a snitch that shits played i know white boys who listen to betta hip hop than u.See only 5% of the people are smart enough to unda stand me, i aint mad at cha but all that hard shit is dead, step ya mind up u might find bigger and betta things and the new york subliminals?? nigga do you own a sky scapper or something cause none of that shit is yours or mine, see ya dont get it what are you reppin?? white mans land and money see niggas its all about ya MINDSTATE!!
    HAPPY ISHTAR!!!

  73. uneckbone Says:

you like black eyed peas. i don’t know if humps has changed your life or something, but they’re garbage. you can’t come back from it. just go look for some eggs young’n/

  74. uneckbone Says:

i didn’t even read your second half. are you retarded. i’m reppin where i was born. i’m reppin what created my mind state. i’m reppin the foundation of hiphop. “white mans land and money”? are you retarded, really i think your retarded. we’re talking about papoose and your looking for a bigger argument. if you listened to even one mixtape you would see more than fucking killing and dealing and shit. he’s got plenty of songs that raise awareness and ask questions. you just dont’ want to listen to it because you need something to not like. today, you chose papoose. leave it alone. and don’t come out your mouth sideways.

  75. eskay Says:

    >>This nigga wont have any longevity, lupe on the other hand has skill which is what gets you signed

so you think Pap isn’t gonna get signed? since you’re so concerned with sales, here’s a little newsflash for you: Lupe might be dope, but that nigga is gonna go wood. mark my words.

    >>papoose sucks cause he sound like a million niggas from new york

does he really though? I think thats something people who don’t listen to music like to say to dismiss NY rappers. name one other artist from NY that Pap sounds like.

    >>see thats the problem music is more than hardcore shit expand ya mind

excuse me but isn’t this a Lupe Fiasco thread we’re typing in? Pap is on some completely different shit so how are you telling me to expand my mind?

    >>u compare the black eye peas to cnbc because the dont slap a bitch, kill a snitch

  90. Demiks Says:

    >> I listen to de la,common, black eye peas, all types of shit.

Somehow I don’t believe you listen to De La Soul, but I DO believe you listen to the Black Eyed Peas.

Plus De La and Common haven’t always been the most commercially accepted or major friendly. Isn’t saying you listen to them contradicting EVERYTHING you were trying to prove.

  91. D. Billz Says:

    @ Mindstate

*puts on Red, Black, and Green wristband for this one*

It’s to my understanding that you’re saying a person shouldn’t be proud of where they’re from because they’re not wealthy or well-off? Are you serious? Most of our Black intellectuals and prominent leaders come from dire straits. Black people “rep” their “hoods” because even with the obstalces that white society has put before us, we are still determined overcome adversity. Our “hoods” represent the struggle and the mindstate which molds us into the creative individuals that the WORLD attempts to mimic. That’s like saying Somalians, Ethopians, Nigerians, West Indians, and Hispanics shouldn’t rep their countries or carry flags because they are poor. To rep is to show a sense of pride of who you are. I’m not saying that you should exemplify the negative things that go on in your hood. But in reality, those negative aspects are a part of it as well. And FYI, there are just as many positive things that go on in our hoods, but the media only focuses on the negatives. We have young, Black entreprenuers and those with schoalastic achievements that aren’t even matched by the white or BLACK middle class. Ever heard of Black Wall Street? No, I’m not talkin’ about a rapper’s record label. I’m talkin’ about a small city in Oklahoma where Blacks supported each other and had flourishing businesses because of that. And do you know where this strip of business and services were located? In the HOOD. We’re not reppin’ poverty as you unabashedly put it. But we’re reppin’ the struggle that gets ignored by others who don’t endure the trials and tribulations of the average Black and Hispanic American.

Why don’t you go tell Spike Lee that he’s reppin’ poverty (“Crooklyn”) and see the backlash you receive…

peace niggas talkin to yall like talkin to the wall, make ya mind grow niggas. I holla, read lessons, the torah/bible its to big for small minds as to what im sayin!Once ya mind grow yall know, until then enjoy the 85% lifestyle?????shalom
    its all kosher

  93. uneckbone Says:

i’m white, and the shit this dude was sayin is just so offensive and retarded. i’m from the “hood’, projects in coney island. my parents pulled me out and moved me to jerz in my late teens. i’ve been going back to my old neighborhood ever since. every thanksgiving i take my OWN money and stand outside in the cold on mermaid ave. handing out 100 turkey’s that i bought. there’s no better feeling in the world. and as i look around the slums that i came from, i’m happy knowing that more and more oppurtunities are being provided for urban youth if they want to take it. and this asshole is generalizing everything we are and we’re were from, as repping the slums. i’ll rep them proudly you piece of shit.

  94. D. Billz Says:

    That’s what’s up @ uneckbone

And I’m mad he’s perpatrating the NGE/5 Percent Nation. Because if he really repped that and REALLY knew his lessons, then he wouldn’t even had spoked sideways about poverty. And what does the Torah/Bible has to do with anything? If you wanna drop science, last time I checked, Jesus hung out with the thugs probably more than anyone else. And he didn’t make them feel ashamed about their surroundings, instead showed them how to make their surroundings BETTER.

  95. uneckbone Says:

whatever, he realized that his mindset is subpar for this blog. another stan bites the dust.

  96. D. Billz Says:

“I holla, read lessons, the torah/bible its to big for small minds as to what im sayin!”

That’s the statement you made, therefore I shouldn’t have to explain my point of reference.

  111. D-TROIT STOMP Says:

Lupe Fisco is killin hip hop period, consious rap is killin hip hop for blk folk!

I can tell you as someone who works with independent labels in parts of the South and Midwest that if you are breaking a record at the street level in these communities, and you don’t have young Black kids buying your record, you will not go anywhere,””Unless it’s legitimized by the Black community, these kids are not buying a damn thing other than what their friends of color are listening to.”

Black hip-hop kids as the gatekeepers for what’s hot has long been the state of affairs for mainstream and cutting-edge hip-hop—but that may be changing in some parts of the country like Minneapolis, for example, where white MCs and white audiences have it on lock. And while there are countless white hip-hop kids supporting the underground who see Blackness as key to hip-hop’s sense of urgency, growing numbers believe white underground MCs are hip-hop’s avant-garde. More and more they insist without pause that their favorite white underground MCs are smarter and hence better.

“One of the hardest things we’re dealing with now is the underlying feeling of white supremacy among fans who feel they are a part of hip-hop, but are listening to and prefer mostly white MCs,” says Brother Ali, who recently toured with several old-school legends together with Atmosphere—a biracial independent rap group who, like Brother Ali, hails from Minneapolis. “They believe that Aesop Rock is better than independent artists who are Black and mainstream artists like Ludacris. These MCs are doing a lot with hip-hop artistically that they have learned from Black people, but [their fans] don’t want to hear from the old-school originators because they believe it’s the white MCs who created the styles they like. This isn’t an underground-versus-mainstream thing—it’s a racist thing.”

  112. eskay Says:

    >>Lupe Fisco is killin hip hop period, consious rap is killin hip hop for blk folk!

explain yourself. I get what your saying about the conscious white m.c.’s but explain those first comments…

i got his album early and even though im sorry i got it…its refreshing to hear since ive turned my back on the current state of rap (between lame ass snap music or whisper song flu..and stupid “hyphy”..i took a hiatus) and been in the land of electro punk recently.

  115. babyGirl Says:

hum… links are dead and I must hear this mixtape.. I will search but pls if you can, please re-upload…

they’ve really gotta make an upload service that stays UP and doens’t expire the links

  116. eskay Says:

they didn’t expire, from what I understand Atlantic is going frantic (that rhymed) trying to pull all the links to Lupe’s album before it spreads too far.

Of course that doesn’t explain why they pulled Trials and Tribulations which is a song that was given out to several other sites to post, or Glory which was a Lupe mixtape that he was giving away for free on his website, but whatever…

  117. $$Nick$$ Says:
