Stray Shots

sourceapril06.jpg

April ’06 Source cover. The Confessions from Inside the Hip Hop Bible looks like it could be interesting…

Jay-Z says he has forgotten 4 or 5 albums worth of material because he doesn’t write anything down.

Raekwon, Ballerina P, Mike Jones and others play golf.

Kind of old, but the rumor is Nas’s baby moms will be putting her tell all book out with the help of 40 Cent.

I’d like to shout out T.I. for being the first rapper since the birth of the internet to not have his album bootleged.

EDIT: About an hour after I posted this, King leaked. DO NOT post links to download it in the comments section. I am aware that it leaked, I probably knew before you, but there will be no linking to retail albums on this site.

  48. DJ Blaze Says:

tyronebiggums71 Sorry u gotta get checked. Yeah U gotta good point but we know how to get past shit and bury and make money. NY cant say the same…I dont even need to list off all those cat fights you motherfuckers have year in and year out so schill wit that.

Yes we are unified ut do you know why. After years of lack of recognition and respect wehad no choice but to pull together cause nobody else didnt want to hear us out. Now that we got the SPOTLIGHT that is was well overdue, 50 and a bunch of jealous cowards want to call us slow and that we fuckin up hiphop and shit. Fuck them…U think 50 can run his mouth about us with his lame ass. Ghostface dissing d4l which is justified but hell he put out that tush garbage bullshit and nobody dissed that shit at a concert. My point is bullshit and beef is apart of rap in every region.

Puffy had ganstas in NY rockin lime green bubble outfits and shiny suits, Pac had half of nys finest quiet and bitched up (Say what you want but no response=submission) Dont act like yall just the illest niggaz on the planet cause yall got too many holes in your armor. Yall always bitchin when some other coast get the spotlight?

In the end, we show respect when yall got the spot so do the same…dont be mad cause yall cant hold onto the reins all the time. Sorry I went off subject but it was on my mind

  49. D. Billz Says:

    @ green eyed bandit

I believe you’re talking about Chingo Bling. He was on quite a few hip hop dvds that I copped last year (Smack included).

  52. D. Billz Says:

    *shakes fist*

The East will reign supreme again… damnit!

  53. tyronebiggums71 Says:

dj blaze im not mad at the south i like it , but the south has just as many beefs as we do in fact you really have more because if you were to exclude 50 then ny would be very unified, yea fat joe and jay still wouldnt get along but they dont beef, cam would still take his shots at jay but who else would care, nas and jay are cool now so who else in ny is beefing with each other, except a couple different mixtape artists, seriously the amount of beef is the same and in the north the beef is almost all cause of 50 and trust this he gets hated on up here way more than the south does.

  54. tyronebiggums71 Says:

@ d.billz dont ever forget “the sun rises in the east ” and it always will

yo whats up with that 40/40 shit… eskay, you need to clarify when you get a second… thanks

  58. eskay Says:

what Biggums said. and DJ Blaze are you serious? it’s the same amount of beef if not more down south. And sure we know how to put beef aside and get money.

Let’s look at the top 3 crews in NY: G-Unit, Dipset and the Roc. All 3 have beefed with one another over at one point or another and all 3 still get money (the Roc not so much right now, but you know what I mean).

BTW Biggums, go into the T.I. thread and check out this cyde hustla dude and how he got schooled by E from BK.

  59. eskay Says:

No we did not invent any of that shit but we did capitalize of it and that is what we supposed to do. Like I have said so many times fool niggas is just tryin to eat dawg. And with niggas catching bullshit charges like conspiracy fuck what u want niggas to do start doin rock and roll? WTF?

  105. D. Billz Says:

one Joe Buddens punchline > NYC’s entire life accomplishments.

i thought you meant NYC as the city. we gotta refer to this dude as the fatherless daughter

  110. cklhiphop Says:

it actually leaked long time ago…

  111. FliestGuyNTown Says:

Man, people act like they really about peace, everybody well mostly everybody on this blog got clogs of dirt the done did in the past also present.

**** point i’m tryin to make is that everyone has the right to tell the story of an everday struggle either its theirs or someone else’s thats what Pac did and thats the only reason he’s the realist ever to touch the mic cause he told from his point of view and also other; thats why we all felt it****

****Honestly know one can judge what real hip-hip BECAUSE everybody GOT a story to TELL****

  112. The Cipher Says:

yo add another bonus track to that… “just got my paycheck (another month in my apartment)”… serious shit… i wouldnt be surprised if someone came on here saw this listand started writing songs for it

  113. KingML Says:

I got a track “Beating off to the VMAs” that should describe what most underground cats are doing when Mariah or some bitch gets on stage cause they definaltey aint invited

  114. D. Billz Says:

Dyin’ laughin’ @ Es and Cipher… those sound like some sho’nuff tracks that need to get added! Think about it, as crazy as a world we live in, if you rapped about regular stuff you could drop and album every year and be eatin’.

    Bonus Track: “Hoppin’ Da Turnstile”

  115. The Cipher Says:

man you see mariah these days… girls looking nice… though them titties look a tad bit to perky, firm and round(either she got some amazing pushup bras or her tits are behind her age) if you know what i mean

  116. The Cipher Says:

its true though… cause itsall poetry… and poetries bout life and things that EVERYONE can relate to… i guess thats what hiphop is… its a relation between the voice and the people… im glad niggas got nice cars and can pop bottles everyday, but what bout the regular man whos living check to check? whos gunna relate to him, cause we all know that theres only bout 1 guy for every 1000 people who can relate with the maybach spinner having rap dude

  117. B-HEEZIE Says:

I got it Eskay…..E from BK said…..However, NY cats started rockin’ grills in like 1978. Duke don’t know his history. Paul Wall even admitted that the first cats he saw rockin’ grills were Flava and Slick Rick!

That dude always puts sh*t into perspective…….

    D.Billz….. how about…..

(BONUS TRACK: CHILD SUPPORT (killed my sex drive) the weedmix….

  118. The Cipher Says:

    ^^HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  119. The Cipher Says:

ok man lets get to the second album… i hope someone is taking all this down… album #2 “Pizza For breakfast”… with the title track being Pizza for Breakfast

  120. eskay Says:

    “I Missed My Bus”

  121. D. Billz Says:

    @ B Heezie

We puttin’ that one on a mixtape.

  122. D. Billz Says:

@ Es… didn’t Kriss Kross have a song by that name?

  123. E From BK Says:

Only about 1/3 of the cats on here have any serious game. I’m tired of these rookie ass kids coming on here all emotional about bullshit. Man the fuck up Nigga! It appears that the other 2/3 of you did not really start listening to Hip Hop until 98. Before that, yall was probably fuckin’ with Barney and Blues Clues. Pac (MC NY) did not shut NY down. How stupid can you be? Pac (MC NY) had words with a few cats that happened to be from NY. I used to see Pac (MC NY) all the time on Fulton. Not Fulton downtown, but Fulton in Bed Stuy just kickin’ it. Yall lil’ dudes let the media dictate that bullshit to you. Pac (MC NY) loved NY! That’s was his home. The shit Pac (MC NY) was on some loyalty shit to these cats that got him out of jail. He NEVER thought them cats set him up. Pac (MC NY) was just pumping that shit up and guess what? It worked! I bet the 2/3 of you don’t know that at the time of his death he was actively working with Boot Camp Click. Did you at least know that? They were starting a new movement that was going to revolutionize this bullshit.

  124. D. Billz Says:

Haaaa @ Cipher… I don’t know not-a-one mofo who can’t relate to that. That left over Papa Johns or Dominoes sittin’ in the fridge. Or if you really wanna recycle, take it to work for your lunch. That would be a hot track on the second album:

    “Microwave (Man’s Best Friend”

  125. The Cipher Says:

    1. Intro: the search
    2. wheres the remote
    3.pizza for breakfast
    4.i stepped on a lego(my foot)
    5.who finished the toilet paper(skit)
6.gotta pay my bills(there calling me)
    7.she’s late
8.lumpy milk, i just want a bowl of cereal
10.my honda needs a tune up
11.she’s pregnant(what you gon do baby?)

  126. D. Billz Says:

@ E from BK… I heard Buckshot talkin’ about that in a interview last year around the same time I copped his album he did with 9th Wonder, Chemistry.

  127. eskay Says:

    ^ I love it Cipher

  128. The Cipher Says:

  132. E From BK Says:

  133. E From BK Says:

    No matter where it’s from!

  134. The Cipher Says:

king without a crown… matishyahu or whatever the fuck his name is, is a hot track

  135. frank lee speakin Says:

the difference is lyrics. most southern dudes and now nyc have no concept or care about true lyricism

  136. uneckbone Says:

yeah E, you definitly got alot of knowledge homie, keep schoolin these cats, even i’m takin notes.

  137. D. Billz Says:

*just got back from my late-ass lunch break, readin’ these posts* On the realz, I respect your knowledge chief @ E from BK. I consider myself an introspective dude, but you be bringin’ it from left field like Sheffield… and it makes sense.

LOL @ Cipher’s track listing. That joint with the lumpy milk is utterly disgusting and I can definitely relate! I don’t eat/drink dairy (soy for me homie), but when I did that shit used to make me mad. And the worst part is after you already pour the cereal to find out the milk sour than a mofo.

    B… More… Nubian

P.S. “left field like Sheffield” — Consequence line lol.

  140. The Cipher Says:

    *****IMPORTANT BREAKING NEWS*****
to my shock and pleasuring enjoyment BET is playing conscious hiphop!!! im fucking shocked off the electric chair withthis one… maybe some stans on here can figure out whattrue music is… Dead Prez What…

  141. Bk Says:

    shocked myself

  142. HarrieBoi Says:

    ur late

  143. cbrizzle AKA nah......right???? Says:

I THINK THE PROB IS THAT HIP HOP IS MARKETED FOR THE PEOPLE THAT COP THE ALBUMS. I DONT THINK HIP HOP IS AIMED AT ANYONE ON THIS SITE BECAUSE WE DOWNLOAD, BURN, AND COPP BOOTLEGS FOR $3. THINK ABOUT IT PUT ON HOT 97 AND ALL YOU HEAR IS WHAT THEY PLAY IN HOULAHANS AND KTU AND SHIT. ITS UGLY OUT THERE FOR HIP HOP. SHOUTS TO CYPHA AND D.BILLS FOR THOSE ALBUMS THO I’LL DOWNLOAD THEM

  144. G-town G Says:

^^Thats fucked up but true. How many ppl on here actually buy albums?

  145. G-town G Says:

I cant lie some niggas shit just aint worth the $15 to spend on they album and thats real talk. Most of the time Id rather be listening to some underground shit anyway but I mean I do try and support the niggas that deserve respect.

Ya’ll need to go get both of scarfaces albums by the way if I havent told yall before.

  146. tyronebiggums71 Says:

i buy everything that i really fuck with, ive had full copies before the album dropped and still bought the album

  147. she Says:

alll the people who had beefs in the south resolved it…so whats the point?ny niggas?still ego tipping, laggin on lame shit…but I gotta give it up to Papoose…

yeah I got the retail bootleg, its hot,but I’m still going to buy the album cause the only reason I download to see if my got damn $9-$20 on a worthless CD cause we all have done that.I don’t feel like taking shit back.

BET don’t barely play councious hip hop,if they do,its only like 5 times and its gone.BET cuts off the counchious hip hop,and replaces it with party music cause it targets “young people”.

  148. G-town G Says:

Yea Biggums dawg Im the same way thats how real niggas do u know. Ill have bootlegs for months and then go cop the album when it drops and I mainly do that to support my favorite artists. I mean shit if we dont buy the albums niggas gone quit puttin them out. And the only thing that will be left will be gay-unit kuz it seems everyone is buying into that crap…

she: BET dont play that shit kuz they owned by white folks now, they dont give a shit about black people thats just another way to make money off us now. And if u sit and watch that bullshit all day long u have wasted your whole entire day and havent learned shit but what is shown on those bullshit ass videos

  149. The Cipher Says:

exactly why i wasshocked that rap city dedicated throwback thursday to concious hiphop… usually they just play throwback commercial rap…

and its true i always get bootlegs before i cop the album… except for when it was with, common, talib kweli, kanye and mos def… also mf doom, de la soul and a couple others who i support fully cause there albums always teach me something i didnt know, or they give me a view worth lookin into… but if it werent for bootlegs i wouldnt give to shits bout most these mainstream artist, i would just listen to wtv they bump at the club and thats bout it, i wouldnt go any further…

  150. Benzino Says:

If i was still at The Source, this cover would have never of been approved of. I’m coming back on a fuckin horse.

  151. Bugsytheboss Says:

The only reason the south is blowin up is because these record labels realize they give these country motherfuckers a decent album budget they have enough fan base to go platinum as rather then going gold or less like they were doing 2 years ago. Its a trend right now down south heavy bass beats with pre-school raps makes up for mainstream rap because its simple and radio-friendly. I give it another 2 years and you probably wont even know who slim thug is by then

  152. B-HEEZIE Says:

    F*** a month……Slim WHO???????? hahahahha……

  153. B-HEEZIE Says:

    damn, too quick on the trigger……. I meant F*** a year…. SLIM WHO???…..hahahha….

  154. eskay Says:

^ yeah seriously, who’s Slim Thug? never heard of him

  155. Bugsytheboss Says:

I can’t wait to see the dumb look on Nas face when Carmen’s book is #1 in the country after being signed to 50 cent new book deal

  156. Demiks Says:

    >> I’m not a fan, but wouldn’t you think Paul Wall would be on the cover of this?

Chamillionaire and Lil’ Flip are already on the cover, Paul Wall has beef with both of them. Them + RuPaul Wall = Conflict

  157. eskay Says:

see the rest of the Source pics here http://therapup.blogspot.com/2006/03/rebirth-of-source-dont-mess-with-texas.html

they were all there when they took the pic

  158. Rich Says:

That award should go to Pharrell cuz his shit wont get bootlegged cuz he does almost all his on production in his own damn studio.

  159. G-town G Says:

I cant believe J Prince got all them niggas together in the same place. DAMN! J Prince is a powerful muthafucka

  160. G-town G Says:

And I know yall see that boy Pimp C flamed up hunh!?!?!?
