Ice Cube – Lady Liberty

I meant to post this a while back but you know how that goes. Classic pic of Cube choking out Lady Liberty taken by world famous hip hop photographer Ernie Paniccioli. Even though it’s anti-left coast, I’m gonna let it ride.

This photo was shot early 90’s. Cube’s album at that time was “Death Certificate”
.He and I were hanging out with Khallid Abdul Muhammad from The Nation of Islam and he had a strong influence on the both of us.
Cube and I were walking near Liberty Travel in Midtown NYC and saw the statue and he and I knew it was destiny, fate or just a dope ass chance to dis the #1 b.s. symbol of Amerikkka.
The photo is in my book “Who Shot Ya? Peace, Ernie Paniccioli

Damn, Ernie thanks for clearing that up. I dont know why I saw it as anti-NY, the New York in the background probably threw me. love the flicks, classic material.

Glad to dispel any myths about my photos. I’ll share a secret with you. Before becoming a photographer I was and wanted to be a painter. If you look at most of my photos as paintings you’ll see them in a whole other light. Anyway I was born and raised in Brooklyn (Not Brooknam or Crooklyn or any other gheto ass names for the borough), how could I dis NYC or the East Coast? Cali is nice, but NY is my life. Peace, Ernie Paniccioli
