An Open Letter to Kool G Rap

grapwhookid_s.jpg

Dear Kool G Rap:

I’ve been a fan since like ‘90 when I stole the Wanted:Dead or Alive cassette from cousin in Philly and banged out to Streets of New York. And who can forget Live and Let Die? On the Run and Ill Street Blues were like mandatory theme music of Freshman year in High School dog, real talk. Then you broke off from Polo and dropped some of the most slept on, underrated solos of the 90’s and early 2000’s: 4,5,6, Roots of Evil, and The Giancana Story.

I rocked with you through all those joints G, and I always maintained that you were a top 5 nigga forever, no matter what. As a matter of fact, just the other day I had an argument about how you’re a better pound for pound lyricist than Biggie. Not an argument you wanna have with a group of drunk, stubborn NY hip hop fans.

Recently there have been rumors of you signing a deal with G-Unit. Those rumors have spawned many arguments over the past month over whether or not this is a good move or a mistake. It was rumored that you were preparing a mixtape with Green Lantern titled Top 5 Dead or Alive, and everybody was amped. Then this week, the mixtape drops and The Evil Genius is nowhere to be found. In his place? Dickriding DJ Whoo Kid, G-Unit associate and 50 Cent cohort. The fact that the mixtape has no G-Unit features, no Banks, Yayo or 50, just adds to the confusion. Is he signing or not?

I’m here to tell you, as a fan and friend: Don’t do it. Don’t sign your life away. Do not align yourself with the Evil Empire. You’re too much of a legend and you should have too much integrity to turn yourself into a soldier. Because in case you don’t see it, that’s what happens at G-Unit, you become a soldier. Don’t believe me? Look at the recent comments by Prodigy. He’s obviously either A. Lost his mind to the Sickle-cell, or B. been brainwashed by The Evil Interscope Mind Control Machine. I’m putting my money on B.

"Oh, but I can go to G-Unit and maintain my integrity, and get rich", you say? Wrong. Let’s take a look at MOP. They signed the same contract as Havoc and Lil Ballerina P, but we don’t see them getting involved in Beef or being sonned by 50, right? Yes, but what most people fail to realize and what MOP doesn’t know is this: They will never drop a G-Unit album. They will sit on the backburner just like they did at Def Jam, and DDMG. They’re just there for image, to add a little street credibility to the label. I mean we all know they’re not gonna sing, right? So where do they fit in at G-Unit? Lil Ballerina P sings now, and he likes it, but MOP and you sir, are cut from a different cloth. It’s fair to assume they’re won’t be any Candy Shops coming from either of you anytime soon right?

Koch just tried to release a pre-G-Unit MOP cd that was somehow in 50’s eyes being falsely marketed as a G-Unit release, so what did he do? He had it pulled off the shelves and pushed back until it is repackaged to his liking. Because, God forbid anybody eats off the G-Unit name and he doesn’t get a piece, even if the artists are now rocking G-Unit spinners around their necks. But hey don’t take my word for it, I’m just a fan. I mean you may get rich right? I mean who knows. I just hope it’s worth it to lose your soul in the deal.

A Longtime Fan

your letter has hit the nail square on the head. g rap is a true hip hop legend and a lyrical GENIUS who has to rate in the top 5 rappers to roam this planet EVER! his rhymes were true to life, witty, well thought out and would leave the listener in awe and other rappers green with envy. g unit are a bunch of clowns whos vocabulary consists of rapping about money, women, or a range of expensive alcoholic beverages over the most bland, more r&b than hip hop beats. these goons do NOT represent hip hop but represent the power of the dollar. 50 cent is the judus of hip hop and g unit are his street cred hungry disciples. g rap is god and should come out and lyrically crush these bitches rather than join their pathetic little posse of egomaniacs

  13. u.k hip hop fanatic Says:

by the way eskay, you should definately send g rap that letter. you have worded it superbly and who knows, if the man reads it and see’s sense you could stop one of the biggest natural disasters in hip hop taking place. peace and big respect to you.

How you can you support this ass hole who abuse, mentally and physically a mother of one of his children!!!! He beat her, made her give him sex orally for hours, she had several miscarriages b-c of his beating, she needed up the hospital from his punches, he made her cook and clean behind his dirty ass, etc… he might be a legend in rap but he’s no one to look up too or support…. he’s an old perverted boy who has nothing but his name in rap. He had his own mother living in disgusting conditions while he didn’t. He’s not even worthy of being called a man. And b-c of how he treated her he’ll never be a superstar. Karma!!!!!… for those who haven’t read “Confessions of a Video Vixen” should. Yeah you will judge her of old dirty ways. But after you read the abuse Kool G Rap put her through, you’ll be more sicken by that then by the number of stars she laid with.
