The Alchemist had one helluva year. He bodied full projects with Prodigy, Boldy James, Willie The Kid, and Durag Dynasty, dropped heat with Mac Miller, Roc Marciano, Joey Bada$$, and Action Bronson, and even managed to release his own compilation on Christmas, The Cutting Room Floor 3, featuring unreleased tracks by 50 Cent, Nas, Kool G Rap, Rick Ross and Meek Mill, Raekwon, and more, including a new heater by Roc Marci and Bronsolino. And there’s no signs of him slowing up any time soon, with his Step Brothers project with Evidence Lord Steppington due out at the top of the year, and production already lined up on ScHoolboy Q’s highly-anticipated new album Oxymoron. Check out 13 Alchemist Beats That Knock from 2013, courtesy of NahRight and UpNorthTrips, below.

1. The Alchemist ft. Action Bronson and Roc Marciano “Pool Hall Hustler” – Roc and Bam Bam go back and forth off this fresh new banger from The Cutting Room Floor 3.

2. Joey Bada$$ “Trap Door” – You might not have noticed it, but Joey rapped over an Alchemist beat on his Summer Knights mixtape, and it’s dope.

3. Boldy James “Moochie” – The lead single off My 1st Chemistry Set, and arguably the hardest Alchemist production of the year. Find out more about it here.

4. Durag Dynasty “Durag Dynasty Theme” – West Coast MCs Planet Asia, Tristate, and Killer Ben are Durag Dynasty. Get to know them over this thumping theme song from their 2013 album 360 Waves, which was produced entirely by ALC.

5. Joey Fatts ft. Da$h and Yams “The Wave Matthews Band” – This originally leaked in 2012, but since it was officially released on Fatts’ project this spring, we’ve got to include it on this list. It’s that wavy.

6. Mac Miller ft. Action Bronson “Red Dot Music” – Off Mac’s impressive album Watching Movies With the Sound Off.

7. Mac Miller ft. Prodigy “Confessions of a Cash Register” – Co-produced by Mac Miller’s alter-ego Larry Fisherman, this loosie has some bounce to it. Don’t sleep.

8. Prodigy and The Alchemist “Stay Dope” – Thump this in the whip on max volume, shit is crazy.

9. Prodigy and The Alchemist ft. Roc Marciano “Death Sentence” – Roc told us the story behind this collabo during our In The Lab interview with him.

10. Roc Marciano ft. Knowledge the Pirate “Ten Toes Down” – Some laidback pimp shit off The Pimpire Strikes Back that’s got the perfect amount of knock to it.

11. Step Brothers (Alchemist & Evidence) “Step Masters” – Looks like Al likes to save the best beats for himself sometimes. Step Brothers album Lord Steppington coming soon.

12. Willie The Kid “Shake Dice” – God damn this Masterpiece Theatre shit is tough. Read about the making of it here.

13. Willie The Kid ft. Action Bronson and Roc Marciano “Medusa” – From the sample to the verses, this track is immaculate. Read all about it here.

List compiled in collaboration with UpNorthTrips. Words by Daniel Isenberg @StanIpcus.
